Bush Flying?

Hi all

I'm looking for some advice on bush flying jobs, don't mind where but preferably in the Australia/Tasmania/New Zealand area.

I'm a ME-CPL/IR holder and FI based in the UK, but only recently qualified as an FI so looking to build up a bit of experience first - just trying to get a feel for the process/job market etc.

Can anyone help?

Thanks!

I can't comment on Africa.
Australia and New Zealand will require a work permit/visa. I'd check out the Department of Immigration (Australia) for information there. Use the ones with .gov.au as they're the official sites.

From what I have been reading in the Dununda forums (a good source of info for Australia and New Zealand) it's a bit of a mixed bag. As ever, getting your first job is tough and you have to have an element of luck with a shed load of patience.

Most new guys head to places like Kununurra, Alice Springs and Kakadu. Those jobs will be mainly scenics and charter in C206, C207 and C210s. Some folks go to the Torres Strait.

It's been over 20 years since I did it so my info may be dated and so you need to check the current state of play. It was fun but hard work. I got a lot out of it, stuff that can't be taught etc. :ok:

I should also warn you that sending CVs alone won't work, unless you hold engineering skills as well as extensive experience on the types "they" operate.

You need to be there to get known and also, for you to see if you can handle living in a remote community. :ok:

Definitely do not limit yourself to only those countries, unless you have good reasons. Africa can be a great, great place to go build hours and have the best time of your life. Look at Tanzania, Maun and Botswana. And yay to - not getting anywhere, what so ever, by sending out CV's - you be better of researching intensively from home, what, WHEN and where to go.

Good luck with it.
