Premier off the runway at Blackpool

Plane in airport landing drama - Blackpool Gazette

Or per the BBC:

"Firefighter(man?) Steve Boyne tweeted: "Crews assisting at Blackpool Airport with a jet crashed on runway. All souls safe." :ugh:

Bump ^^^^^^^^ to give you guys chance to comment.

Seems strange that such an incident, which had the capacity to be far worse, hasn't attracted any discussion.

I recall a Premier running off the end of Blackbushe's runway a few years ago so this isn't the first time it's happened.

Are there some sensitivities surrounding the a/c, its crew or pax causing silence here?

The brakes on those are a known weak point. Being blackpool, we can probably blame the Troyd.

I don't think so, small jet, privately owned and flown usually, coupled with from what I've been told weak brakes and small tires.

Seems like one runs off the end of runway somewhere about once a week. It's just not a big deal anymore. :p

It is an aircaft which has a 'reputation'. Particularly in the US. For no reason in particular, just suffers from inexperienced owner pilots not flying to the numbers.

In this case professionally flown on a long runway I suspect there will be a technical problem reason for it.

However I think you're looking to dig dirt by the sound of your post. Doesn't look like it was a huge deal at the end of the day thankfully.

On Flyer Forum a Blackpool ATCO reports it written off.

I heard once that runway overruns are the #1 accident category for light jets.
As previous posters already said, I guess it's due to owner-pilots upgrading from a twin piston or turboprop.

SGC,

I didn't realise the Blackpool ATCO was an insurance assessor too? Then again if its written on a forum it must be true :E:}

That particular ATCO has past experience of written off aircraft himself :hmm:

Still the report will be interesting reading.

The airplane has developed a bad reputation. It's reflected in their prices on the used market. Same year and hours, are roughly half that of a CJ2. And I believe the Premier cost more when new.
