The Malibu "JetProp" took-off from runway 23 for a flight to Zwartberg, Belgium. The pilot contacted departure and was cleared to climb to FL90 and soon after was vectored to a heading of 170. The departure ATC noticed it was descending and provided immediate assistance with vectors. GVA ATC was expecting the Malibu to eventually fly back to Geneva (several holding instructions to at least one departing and two approaching aircraft were issued) but as the video shows it turned-out to be another tragedy.

I was inbound to GVA when it happened and GVA closed briefly. How very sad.

Looking at the CCTV playback link It seems the aircraft departed controlled flight, i.e., stalled.

Icing?

SOP you're a genius!
We would never have noticed that until you pointed it out.
Thanks Ace,
Jez

I have never claimed to have been an ace, ever and avoid lowering myself to indulge in sarcasm.

However after 20k+ TT and 40 years I do realize more than most, that I don't know all the answers, fallible and the rules are your guardian angle. Don't try and reinvent the wheel and don't get yourself into a position where you are "backed into a corner".

An approaching Falcon 7X reported moderate icing yesterday. It landed 20 minutes before N246PR took-off.
The pilot was a 59 years old Swiss dentist, who was an expert in his profession.

Has there been any atc exchange between them ?
Anyone who has been in the air that time heard anything ?

That may be have been a health issue as well :(

Jetprops have de-icing boots on wings, fin and tail plane which are quite effective. If that wasn't able to cope I'd be looking to either climb out of it (with 1 on board 2000fpm is easily achieved) or return straight away with a descent.

No doubt there is, like most accidents, more than one factor involved. A great shame :(

Communications (in French) started at 28'10" on the first MP3:

They ended at the beginning of this file:

But we can't really understand what the pilot said.

Oh my goodness, spelling police!!

Angle was for your benefit. Thought you would get a good laff out of it.

PSF2J 1st Feb 2015 11:23

Apologies, I thought it was a double-entendre!

Thanks for the laff :D I'll be quoting that one.
