Ambulance Flight - crash in Iceland Augst 5th, 2013

An ambulance flight on approach to Akureyri Airport (AEY) in the North of Iceland requested to fly over the town. Approx. 2 min. after the request was granted by the Tower, during an attempted low pass over a race track, the Beechcraft King Air 200 crashed. The Icelandic Transport Accident Investigation Board has stated in a Preliminary Report dated Oct. 2nd 2013 that the aircraft "lost altitude".

KA crash, Iceland

Sorry to say, but the cause given for this crash is totally inadequate.
What it looks like, is an engine failure (left engine), with the auto-feather failing to kick in, assymetric thrust on the right at close to full power, forces the aircraft to go into an increasing left bank. The pilot fails to reduce power on the operating engine, causing a high power spiral dive to the port (left) side, resulting in the crash you see. It is evident that the speed at which the aircraft is travelling, a reduction in power on the right engine and right rudder and slight nose-up attitude would have resulted in controlled flight on the original course. The speed was more than adequate to have made this a controllable emergency.

You clearly didn’t read the report.

You’re completely wrong, both engines produced similar power and rpm.
