Malindi Kenya

Hi Guys.

We have an upcoming flight to Malindi in Kenya. Operating in on our aeroplane, crew goes home via airline for 10 days then returns to operate the flight back out.

Any heads up on local gotchas or other advice greatly appreciated.

Cheers

It shouldn't be a problem at all.. fuel, Customs, nice hotels.. Bit short for my bird though..

Biggest problem is being ripped-off by unsavoury characters from among the local populace (mugging is rife) as well as an increase in more serious organized crimes against foreigners.

If you have security though, you should be fine.

How does one "have security" if you leave your aircraft unattended for 10 days?

Unless it's equipped with a means to tell if it has been touched I would be very concerned about that.

The aircraft will be fine. I think the security was for the crew. However, I don't think anything other than common sense and normal precautions are required. Having said that, I might go back to the aircraft to run the APU half way through the ten days. (On the Gulfstream it was a recommendation in a salty environment.)
Stay at a decent Malindi Hotel or one in Watamu. Lots of choice.

pm if you want more info.
