The Lear Jet Turns 50 — But It Almost Didn’t Make It Off the Ground
An interesting article on the genesis of the Lear Jet on wired.com:
The Lear Jet Turns 50 ? But It Almost Didn't Make It Off the Ground | Autopia | Wired.com And an interesting quote, off subject, from the same article: "At 82, Clay Lacy still flies regularly. He has more than 53,000 hours flying experience, and many of those are in the older (and newer) Lear Jets. . . .'" Impressive, that. |
Yea Clay Lacy "interesting" guy.... Lots to read about him on various websites. A scab at UAL, lied to the FAA and union about his age etc etc.

Long Live the 24D! |
I put Clay Lacy in about the same league as Martha King. Old, annoying and won't go away.

Bill Lear however was an interesting guy of that self made type you rarely see these days. Put his money where his mouth was, too - not something you see much of today either. He risked everything he owned on Lear Jet. Salutations to him.
