I am currently working in a Part 91 Aviation flying Falcon 7X and my chief asked me to do a study about how much is being paid on the other companies.

Where I work is: US$100,00
When fly to Europe: 100,00 Euro
Asia: US$80,00

We have company credit cards and expense our expenses.... for a 24/7/365 operation it comes out much much cheaper...

Other than that, in the USA at least, you can go to the IRS website and get the rates per state or country. I am sure what ever country you pay taxes in must have the same.

In my actual company it is 30 EUR, anywhere in the world.
In the previous one 60 EUR, also in that case irrespective of where the duty was done. Breakfast and internet paid by company, drycleaning not.

US$135 / EURO 100 per day pro rated, and breakfast, internet, dry cleaning paid for.

The crew don't take the :mad: out of it and the owner/client pays what it costs.

If they can't afford what it costs or have a problem with crew staying in reasonable places etc then they cant afford the aircraft, it needs to be sold and I don't want to know or work for them, ever.

Sensible guidelines are okay but what about the contract guy who works for an outfit that normally does cheap night stops and then does a Moscow for 5 days expecting the contractor to take the fall because you gain on the cheap stops and loose on the expensive ones?! NOT acceptable.

70 to 135$ depending on region (Asia lowest, Japan highest, Europe 120USD/day), breakfast not included, uniform laundry paid for.

Mostly we stay in sensible 4* hotels, so there are a lot of free breakfasts and lounge accesses available anyway...

As a freelancer in the cabin I charge 100 euros per day on bigger a/c, providing operator picks up all hotel-related bills and transportation.

100 USD/Day with 4-5 star hotel and internet. It doesn't matter which region we are in.

No Laundry, but with 2-3 sectors month it doesn't take a big bite into the per diem.

Do you mean Bed and Breakfast style accommodation ?

US$100/day and breakfast, internet, laundry.

When in Moscow additionally get evening meal (only at hotel) paid.

Everywhere in Europe, Nord Africa and Russia, 120€/80€, on call. Hotels and transfers paid, no fixed, no meals.

Hotels paid for (Marriott/Hilton or higher in quality).

Laundry, Internet, in room movies, transportation (taxis or rental car) paid for. If we need to dead head somewhere we get business class tickets.

For our daily per diems while in Europe it is set at 128 Euro, same for Africa. In Asia and the Mid-East it is 140 Euro.

In the USA and Canada it is $80/day which is too low. For South America, the Caribbean and Alaska it is $100USD/day.

Per diems tax free?
 

Over here in Germany we have a very strict tax code. It severely limits the amount of expenses that can be reimbursed tax free. While not too bad for certain places abroad, especially within Germany it's quite laughable.

You can claim 6,- Euros if away from base for more than 8 hours, 12,- Euros for more than 14 hours and 24,- Euros for an overnight. These amounts may be doubled and still remain tax free for the employee, although the employer has to pay a flat tax of 25% for the amount above the original rates.

After flying from Hamburg to Munich for an overnight a crew member could get 48,- Euros tax free with a total burden of 54,- for the employer. These amounts are for food and beverages only. Hotels can be reimbursed at full cost by the employer. For a dinner in Munich 48,- Euros is sufficient, but how about sitting in an FBO after a short flight for 5 hours without being able to claim anything tax free?

All per diems above the tax free allowances will increase your taxable salary. In Germany this means that they will not only be subject to income taxes, but also to all kinds of insurances which are deducted from your paycheck automatically. On top of that, a higher total income increases the tax rate. These total deductions easily approach or exceed 50%!!!

I would like to know how this is handled in different countries, both from an employees and an employers perspective. Could you get an unlimited amount of per diems without those being taxable?

For operators in Germany, do you have a special arrangement with tax authorities? Every human being with a brain can comprehend that an allowance of "nothing" or even 6,- or 12,- will not let you survive a day on a German airport!

In Italy domestic per diems are tax free for employee and employer up to 46,48€, out of the country 77,47€.
The part exceeding those sums will be considered as income, and taxes and social security paid, from both the parties.

80€, hotel, Internet and breakfast paid. On flying days we have meals on board as well, so frankly, I usually spend nothing in reality.

Even better, it is paid in cash, in advance. Best idea ever!

Everything on a company card. Hotel, meals, etc. Hotel is prearranged for us, we just pay on checkout. With everything else there is an understanding; "spend what is required & reasonable"
