CL850 Emergency landing at UUWW No Gear
Hi guys
We were ready for taxi when heard on frecuency: stby, aircraft on emergency. We were listening the radio, really bad situation listening them, cool and calm guys, some kids crying on the back. Nice landing although it was already night and couldnīt see much detail from VKO3. Looks like they had no main landing gear, foam on the runway and some sparks when touchdown. Lotīs of emergency services on the runway waiting Congratulations to them for the landing !!!!! Also congratulations to VKO emergency services !!!! |
MOSCOW, September 7 (RIA Novosti) A business jet with 10 people on board belly-landed safely at Moscows Vnukovo airport Saturday evening after its undercarriage failed to lower for landing, an emergency services source said. The aircraft, flying from Naples, landed on its belly on a runway coated in foam. No-one was hurt, the source said. The Challenger 100 aircraft had three crew and seven passengers on board. It had spent some time circling the runway to burn off fuel before attempting to land, the source said. |

Does anyone know if there is a flight tracking site where you can just put "Naples" and "Vnukovo" with the date and it gives you a list of aircraft?

The MNG Jet website is saying that TC-EJA joined their AOC earlier in the year so I'm guessing that Europe Jet are using their AOC and maybe MNG are also doing their maintenance for them etc.

On the technical side, can any of you explain which are the emergency gear down systems and which maybe the reason for not working?

The emergency gear extension on the CRJs is accomplished by pulling on the emergency extension handle which is on the aft part of the central pedestal. Its position is such that it's rather awkward to pull from either pilot seat, so I was taught from my initial CRJ course that the PM should actually get up from his seat in order to pull on it. Once pulled, the handle will go through 4 "clicks", the first one being the nose doors opening, then one each for each gear leg. In addition to poor positioning, there is another "gotcha" in the system in that there is a button in the center of the handle in order to pull on the handle, and the button must be let go in order for the handle to stay extended, else it will try to restow. Once the handle is pulled, the mechanical uplocks release, the dump valves open, and the gear falls under their own weight. Read more here:

The uplocks did not release or the dump valves did not open, which doesn't seem likely, but stranger things have happened... |
