Has Cessna conceded defeat to Embraer

At least in light jets.

Go back a few years, there was no other company in the world that could design, certify and get to market small jets or any aircraft for that matter, as fast as Cessna could. It seemed that there was an announcement every 6 months of a new program and before you knew it, the new product was sitting on ramps all around the globe. The Citation X or Ten, the confusion is there...has taken several years and its only really a derivative. The CJ4 took nearly 4 years. The CJ2+ hasn't been updated since 2005. The CJ3 has never been updated. The Mustang has come but the market is now saturated.

If you look at the GAMA stats, Embraer is out selling Cessna by a fair margin.

Citation Longitude needs more range.
Citation X.......needs more range, at least 3700nm +NBAA IFR reserves.
CJ4 is being outflanked by the Phaenom 300.
CJ3 needs winglets and G3000. Tamarack aerospace are doing some fine work with winglets.
CJ2+ needs the same and possibly an engine update. Some extra range/efficiency is always handy
M2 looks fine except those mini winglets, they look kitchy.
Mustang needs a refresh

It also seems that Embraer has the edge on systems design, easier to fly and less inspections.

While flashier cockpits may not appeal to grizzled old pros, is what is expected by customers who are used to buying the latest iPhone or Mercedes.

What a load of tosh Ozgrade! Have you ever flown one of the types you mentioned? No is my guess!

Well chaps, thanks for my winnings, I had a bet to win $5 bucks a snooty answer. No, I don't fly corporate, just not interested in living hand to mouth as a causal. I much prefer a stable pay cheque as a...hold your breath...instructor. Yep pistons and propellers. So so sorry to intrude on the hallowed ground of the jet jocky (whats the icon for grovelling)....

It's hallowed air....not ground!

Surely the more pertinent question here is where did you find someone gullible enough to take the bet, and does he have any more money?

See if he'll bet against the sun rising tomorrow and I'll split the winnings with you.

Well.. I'm grizzly...

.. I've flown both and I've chosen a low-time Phenom 100.. rather than a CJ1 or Mustang.. Main reason proper lavvy and rigid door compared to Cessna's humiliaton potty and hanging rag.. Secondary reason those extra cruising knots.

How could anyone spend $2 mill+ and end up with a campsite latrine and a bag of kitty-litter?

Yeah yeah I know... Embraer teething probs with flaps, brakes etc but time will tell if I've chosen a lemon.. :ok:
