NON TYPE RATED Captains in Asia

Hi everyone,

I would like any info on Biz Jets Co's hiring non type rated captains anywhere in Asia at the moment...I know about BAA but was wondering if there are other options and what would be the best way to approach these companies...

I currently hold an ATPL license of a country that has diplomatic relations with China and over 6000 hrs total of which over 1100 hrs PIC on the E190, so I was wondering if any of Biz Jet company will look at me with that experience.

Thanks for your replies... :ok:

To be perfectly honest, very few, if any would. You are an unknown entity for them, so why would they spend $60K+ on a type rating to have you walk out the door, and people do unfortunately, ruining it for others.
Furthermore, and no disrespect is meant by this, but you PIC time in what I presume is an airline on the 190 has little or no benefit to Corporate aviation, we have FO's with 4000 TT and 1500 hrs on G550'S that are waiting for upgrades. At best, you will possibly be offered a FO position until you have in the region of 500 hrs + on type and some solid corporate experience and then be looked at for upgrade. This is with a decent company, of course you could always sell your soul to get your foot in the door with one of the lesser upfront organisations, but then be prepared to get as good as you give, or less!!
Good luck.

I was looking at Asian jobs that stated 'no type needed' but then they asked for 500 hours PIC.

So how can you get PIC time without a type?

I just had to ponder if these people are seriously looking for pilots and how much of this 'pilot shortage' was really companies looking for free type ratings.

Think about it, anyone that is current and typed, either is quitting their job right after their previous employer paid for school, or got fired, right after thier employer paid for school. Boggles.

Teldorserious - I've been puzzled by that before so dug a little deeper and asked some questions. Apparently you need a type rating on one of the types operated out there in order to undertake the licence conversion checkride, you then do a type-rating on the aircraft you'll be operating.

All sounds a bit daft to me but I guess that's how they need to do it, good luck trying to solve the pilot shortage out there then!

Do they not mean 500 PIC in your book, not necessarily on type?
