Operating costs estimation
Hello,
Just read on avweb that a good way to estimate the hourly cost for a plane is to take fuel burn costs per hour and double it. Seems to be reasonable for the 182 I currently fly. Would this work on twins as well? Talking about pistons here by the way. Thanks |
It's a good rule of thumb that has been around a long time to estimate direct operating costs.
Jet fuel is around $5.50 per USG, and a G550 burns around 450 gallons per hour, or $2,475... x2 gets you just under $5,000, which is reasonable for DOC. FR |
Wouldn't work for a DA42 Twin Star.
