Cessna 550/560 type rating

Hi!

I need some infos and clarifications about the cessna -nomenclature- ,
if someone could help me.

1_ is this list correct , regarding series/names of the cessna 550/560 ?
Cessna 550 Citation II
Cessna S550 Citation S/II
Cessna 560 Citation V
Cessna 560 Citation V Ultra
Cessna 550 Citation Bravo
Cessna 560 Citation V Ultra Encore
Cessna 560 XL Citation Excel

2_ is a JAA 'integrated' (MPA) 550/560 type rating available on the market and what models could cover ?
3_ any good TRTO in Europe ?
thank you in advance!

Hello!

1. I think so (not really sure about the II and SII, there aren't many of those left)

2. Yes. It includes all models on your list apart from the XL which requires a separate typerating.

3. Not much choice in Europe unless you want to do it on-type somewhere. Apart from FSI ( Farnborough or Le Bourget) I can't think of any TRTO here.

Happy landings

CAE at Burgess Hill have a C550 simulator and run initials.

Seems to be correct for the II and S/II. There are also C551 which are Citation 2 SP (single pilot)...these have been seperated from the rest with their Citation C501 counterpart, although they are basically the same aircraft, just with lower MTOW (C551) and some requirements as A/P, boom mike , Headset etc int he manual...

The XL has already 2 follow ons, the XLS and the XLS+...

The list should look as follows:

This is a classrating (C501/C551):
Cessna 501 Citation ISP
Cessna 551 Citation IISP

This is one typerating (C500/550/560 - differential trainings required between certain types):
Cessna 500 Citation I
Cessna 550 Citation II
Cessna S550 Citation S/II
Cessna 560 Citation V
Cessna 560 Citation V Ultra
Cessna 550 Citation Bravo
Cessna 560 Citation V Encore
Cessna 560 Citation V Encore+

This is a different type rating (Differential training between XL/XLS and XLS+ required)
Cessna 560 XL Citation Excel
Cessna 560 XLS Citation XLS
Cessna 560 XLS+ Citation XLS+

Have a look here as well:

http://www.easa.europa.eu/certificat...t-12032013.pdf

for q2, the rating you get is the 500/550/560, now you may fly what you have trained on. Lets say thats a Bravo sim, you`d need a differential training to fly a C500, a 550 or S550 or a 560. (Pages 11 and 4 of the linked list)

Encore/Encore+

Under EASA rules the only problem is the Encore+. The diffences training is foreseen only for people that flew the straight Encore. From the Encore+ to the Encore a full type-rating "must be evaluated" as reported on the EASA type-rating list (table 8).

http://www.easa.europa.eu/certificat...t-12032013.pdf

No differences training allowed from all other C500 Series to the Encore+.

Cheers !

Good morning!

No differences training allowed from all other C500 Series to the Encore+.
No, luckily not! This is what the smallprint says:

"The CE 560 Encore+ to CE 560 Encore differences training shall be
evaluated or the full type rating training shall be accomplished.
"

The difference between the Encore and the Encore+ is mainly the avionics: Honeywell Primus 1000 versus Collins ProLine 21.

Happy landings

TRTO

Executive Aviation Services at Gloucester (EGBJ) is a TRTO for C500/550/560 and conduct training on the C550 Bravo. Call Peter Hamlet on 01452-857006.

Thanks all very much for the info!

HI,
i found that some EASA aviation TRTOs offer a difference course ( mainly theoretical and few pratical sessions and at least having 100hrs on type ) to get a type rating conversion from C550 / 560 to the the C525 family.

Is it also possible the opposite ,, ,from C525 to C550/560 ?
thank you in advance!

BYE.

You might want to also talk to Atlantic Training Support as they offer a Citation 550 initial rating, which would be done on an aircraft.

Aircraft Type and Type Rating Courses | Atlantic Training Support

Not heard of anyone offering an abbreviated course to go from C525 to C550. I know Bristol Flying Centre / Centreline can do it the other way round (as you say) if you have enough jet experience (I seem to remember it was 500 hours)

If I was you I would not bother paying for a C550 or C525 rating at the moment as there is no call for type rated pilots. I have over a 1000 hrs on type and have not been able to find any work for the last few months.
