National Geographic Mega Factories: Learjet

Sorry if this comes across a little "geek"ish, but thought it may be of interest to some of you.

Recent upload by National Geographic from their Maga Factories series, focussing on the Learjet factory in Wichita, KS, and the building of a 60XR.

Apologies if this is not viewable in certain regions:

The dogs.

Thanks for that fantastic link. Absolutley awesome documentary. As an aircraft engineer having worked around some of the biggest jets on the planet it really reminded me watching it where it all started for me many moons ago. I hope it gave an insight to others of a little snippet of the care, attention and fine limits that engineers work too!. It's such a great looking aircraft and one that I've always wanted to fly ever since I gained my commercial flying license. Maybe one day eh!!!!!!

I am very lucky to have been to our engineering base in Cardiff, and although of course not a new build facility, it is absolutely fascinating. To clamber around in the hold, main gear bay and avionics bay of a 747 was something my trolly dolly uniform never thought it would see! :8

I am glad a couple of people found it interesting...

I am still learning about the private flying side of aviation, but in my mind never had any Learjet type being that large... Although obviously I know it is not as large as some of the other jets... :)

Glad the girls and boys at Cardiff made you welcome. Not been personally but met a few of thier Engineers in London on courses etc. Seems they like it. Again thanks for the link. I watched it again, this time with my son. He's 8, but was memorised by it. :ok:

Great programme and I've memories of most of the places shown.
Hopefully should be there next month with our aircraft for maintenance. I've been there several times and still not seen everything. Looking forward this time to seeing the first Learjet 85 in assembly and the new 70/75. Always found everybody very friendly. Really nice people and proud of their aircraft.

eyealess (I only just got that... :D )

Yes, they were very hospitable... Very proud of their work and were only too keen to show how much work goes in to what they do... A 747 looks very odd with nothing in it... :)

Mike Echo,

I find this sort of stuff fascinating... Have been to Airbus in TLS, but not managed to get anywhere else yet.

Hope you have a safe trip.
