Flaps and Slats
 

Hey Guys

I was hoping someone could shed some light on this question thats been on my mind for awhile...
Very simple,maybe abit silly to ask..
But,Do you control "Slats" with the flap lever?Or do you control the slats with a different control?
Reason I ask,is because when I watch 738's landing on youtube,I only see them use the flap lever.Nothing else.Am I maybe missing something?

On the B757, A320, A330, A340 and Global Express types that I have flown, the flap handle deploys slats at the appropriate point in the cycle.

From the same lever these days. Read this accident and you will understand why

Note, the Mk 1 had Droops and the Mk 2 Trident had Slats

Do CRJ's have Slats ? maybe the 700 and 900's but never seen them on the 100/200 series?

737, 747 = same lever. Doubt if there is any aircraft manufactured today that has separate levers.

Same lever, but Douglas products (DC8, DC9, MD80, DC10) use a different lever underneath the flap handle for Slat retraction only.


It has to be pushed forward prior to moving the flap handle to the full up (slats retract) position.


Supposed to be a guard against inadvertent retraction.
