Unless they actually publish what colour your hi-vis has to be, they've got no reason to 'pull' you. At Farnborough, the original intention was everyone wears puke yellow/green except marshallers who wear orange to distinguish them; seems logical; you see someone waving their arms not wearing orange you ignore him.

Sorry for the thread drift, but Hi-Viz grey??

His dudeness 16th Mar 2013 07:51

Have a look:

Warnweste EN471 - Warnwesten - Kinderwarnwesten - Signalwesten - Funktionswesten - bedruckte Warnwesten

Grau = german for grey

As you can see they have also the ideal vest for nighttime = black and for foggy weather = white...

Have hi vis lining fitted to your uniform jacket. Simply turn it inside out and you are sorted. Thats lateral thinking right there my friends..

deefer dog 16th Mar 2013 10:33

Who actually defines what a high viz jacket is? Is it not reasonable to claim that my uniform bars (mine are white) make my uniform jacket "high viz?"

And in any case, if they spot you not wearing a jacket surely it follows that you are plainly visible?

Anyway, this is thread drift and detracts from warning the unsuspecting that they should avoid the rip off culture of London ****ty, its shambolic immigration procedures, and the intimidating security process.

Shame they don't do a Hi viz in gay pride rainbow style!

If LCY can prove it is no longer viable, then the land could be reused for housing. It seems the management don't want any business. Could be a plan, just like Filton.

Do I have to be a thinker to do this job ? Nobody told me that before!!!

Tray Surfer 17th Mar 2013 22:17

Its strange isn't it...

As someone who had used LCY as a scheduled airline passenger to Europe and JFK, you expect things to be of a similar ilk for the whole operation. Yet, it appears the private end certainly is not as good.

I don't know too much about private aviation yet, but can see that those prices are way higher than industry standard...

As others have said, they will price them self out of the market if they continue down the path as described. Sure, charge that amount if you are providing THE best private services available in the UK or Europe, but when service is as described, then you are only going to head in one direction... And it is not up.

No RYR for me 18th Mar 2013 12:13

@Tray server. It has nothing to do with service but all with slots and location, location, location....

Are they still operating their own Falcon?

Tray Surfer 18th Mar 2013 12:32

I appreciate those aspects are a major part of it... But, from reading the comments above, the lack of organisation, immigration, security and other things mentioned seem to compound the issues. If all of the above was smooth as silk, then the cost of slots and paying a premium for the location probably would not be so much of an issue. But, for the price, operators are getting a raw deal.

Well, that is just how it appears to me.

ComeOnLetsFly! 18th Mar 2013 17:41

The Falcon 900 is no longer operated by LCY, that stopped 4 years ago.

I honestly think it's a huge shame that they have ended in this situation.

The general staff there I find are excellent, I've never had a problem - unfortunately I guess it's the managers there that are the general issue.

With regards to security,up until 2 years ago, the JC had a dedicated team who were brilliant - we never had an issue. When the rules changed they used the terminal staff who had been trained to screen the general population and not Mr Big Wig who owns his own aircraft.

Unfortunately it seems that this could have all been planned with LCY, keep pricing themselves out of the market until no-one wants to use the facility and then use the space for a couple of extra parking stands that bring in more revenue for the airport.

With the NJE lounge now gone (along with their dedicated MXX team) it seems this could happen sooner rather than later.

Good luck to the Ops / ramp / and reception staff!

chevvron 18th Mar 2013 17:51

Dunno if they still run the Falcon GLCYA, but I remember it used to park at Farnborough some weekends in case it was needed saturday afternoon or sunday morning.

And you are right IMO.

G-LCYA replaced with M-CELT.

hawker750 20th Mar 2013 18:11

Had an e-mail from the Jet centre today offering 50% off my parking bill until end April as long as I stayed for more that 4 days. Anyone know how much 5 days parking would cost there for a 13t Hawker because I am dying to work out how much i would save over £30/day at Biggin?

deefer dog 21st Mar 2013 14:01

Got the same email so guess they are getting pretty desperate for business.

They will need to change a lot before they can expect custom from those operators who explain to their pax the drama, cost and inconvenience of using London ****ty.

The biggest fan of theirs must be Biggin Hill.

McDoo 21st Mar 2013 16:14

You would think that at least they would provide decent IT for crew use. The single useless PC in the crew lounge is insufficient and painfully slow if it's working at all. It actually replaced the even worse one they had before and guess where that ended up?.....as the only PC available to crew at Northolt, run by guess who?
They don't seem prepared to invest even a few hundred quid on improving the poor facilities at both airfields. :ugh:

His dudeness 21st Mar 2013 18:35

Screw the PC, I want a working coffee machine in the low lifes lounge.

The one in the Skygods area always works...

But what can one expect at their prices. Free water and or Soda as TAG provides at FAB are to much to ask as well. Or the snooze area at FAB, no way one could get sumthin like that at LCY...
