KSLC-LFMN how many pilots?
Hi!
Just noticed a flight KSLC-LFMN with GL5T and I was wondering how many pilots you need for this flight? Also would be interesting to know how do you cope. jukka |
No more than 2 - it's a 10h leg....I guess this should be fine under all regulations.
|
Need = 2 (FAR 91)......... Desirable 3.
Rotate the takeoff and landing based on who did last takeoff/landing, then arrange crew rest according to time of flight and crew desires. Mutt |
Hello ....it's a 10 hours flight...2 guys should be fine provided they are under the age of 99 y.o....:)
|
It also depends on if there is adequate crew rest area available.
Taking three pilots is ridiculous if the third pilot must occupy the jump seat all the flight. FR |
must occupy the jump seat all the flight. So what is your limit for 2 crew? Mutt |
Depends how much expresso you have onboard mate...
|
forget 3 crew. use 2.
the third is always in the way, jump seat occupant...as crew rest IF available is used for catering...... or forward lav used for catering......
conducted many long trips in G5, and best and most rested actually when 2 crew..... and good coffee...... glf |
Hi!
Thanks to all for your replies. jukka |
You need only 1 pilot, but regs say 2.

GL5T is Global 5000 not GV...
Still the same question though. 2 pilots if should be adequate. The Global 5000 has no crew rest area...it was eliminated to make room for the avionics due to the shortened fuselage. The theory is perhaps a 5000nm range plane doesn't need a crew rest area.....most of the time.
This particular flight seems to have originated in KVNY with a tech stop in KSLC. The Global 5000 doesn't have the range to fly LA to Nice non-stop. Global 5000 can't really fly 5000 miles...close, but not quite. A Gulfstream salesman I know calls it the Global 4800. Ouch. |
