Biz Jet Type Rating Costs
 
Hi All,

Apologies if this has been answered elsewhere (I have looked!) but wondered if anyone could give me a ballpark figure for cost of type ratings (not including base training) on the following:

1) Citation XLS
2) Embraer 135/145

I am based in the UK but willing to travel far and wide.

Your help is much appreciated!

25k USD for the initial XLS in Flight Safety Orlando, back in 2010. One recurrent included in that price.

Just as a headsup - I know several rated XL jockeys with over 500 hours on type who cannot get a job (just in the off-chance that you are planning on a speculative rating)

I did hear a rumour just 3 weeks ago that FS in Paris had been offering an Embraer 135/145 rating for as little as €14,000 to drum up trade, but this was only overheard, however ask yourself why ? There are simply very few jobs out there and a plentiful supply of suitably qualified candidates with time on type which will cut the mustard on every opening. I know because I make myself available every year by renewing at my own expense and realistically just about cover my outlay with a small amount of freelance work.

Think hard, keep your money and at least sit out this deep,very deep, glitch.

Via PSB; XLS 17000$.

At md1011, I heard from a friend of mine who is sfi involved with them;
that if you are unemployed, you may expect 25% discount to be confirmed.

I know an XLS guy out of work in South Florida. I think he has opportunities, just doesnt want to take just any 135 job. Good corporate jobs are not easy to get.

Just got a quote for a hawker 4000 initial $51,000, one of recurrent $30,400 4-5 day course; 15hrs of ground study and two session in a sim

Whats a Cpt freelance rate for this rare bird europe side?

Not sure what the freelance rate is but there's only five (one VP-registered) of these birds in Europe as far as I know so I would not expect too many freelance gigs....

I'm making a bit of an assumption, but the OP suggests he's going to do a speculative TR. I can't believe that even today, there are still idiots out there that consider this move.

It's ironic that people with access to too much money get into this industry because of the apparent glamour and lifestyle of the commercial pilot. The problem is, that very lifestyle has been destroyed by those very same people that are so desperate to get into it. When they do get the job they've dreamed of, they quickly realise that the perceived lifestyle they strive for, no longer exists.

Chicken Leg, lots of corporate pilots freelance, they obtain the rating and chase customers on a daily basis. This is extremely different to P2F especially as they have to have sufficient experience to make them insureable.
