got to fly UAAA-VIDP-VGHS-WIII or WIHH,-VCBI-FSIA-HTDA or WIII-VRMM-HTDA in a few weeks.

Any info is welcome. Have not been in that part of the world yet.

Nothing out of the ordinary except FSIA will no doubt tell you to bring a tow bar. They only have bars for B737, B747, B757, B767, B777 and A330, A319.

Landing permits easy at all locations and again, with FSIA, they will want you to transmit the permit number by HF prior to entering their FIR. Your ops should give you the HF frequency.

Usual health precautions apply for these destinations.

Only recomendation I can give is go to WIHH Jakarta Halim not WIII. Close to town and geared up for GA. also stay in the Le Meridien Hotel and give all the lovely staff there my best wishes. (was there for 5 weeks during Sunami relief)

VRMM stay at Bandos, book it via the agent as in a few weeks it will still be high season.

Get the Indian permit(s) well in advance for your schedule and advise your pax that last-minute changes (last-min I mean anything within 3-5 business days before the flight) may or may not be possible with the Indian DGCA.

Depending on who you use for the permits the time getting and / or revising them can vary considerably.

A good estimate is 5 business days for Indian landing permits and 3 for overflight - don't count on it though.... bureaucracy deluxe!!!!

I was just told by a travel agency lady that we require crew visa for a 4 hrs gnd stay in VIDP (where we would not leave the airplane if not required to)

Can anyone confirm this? Sounds....silly?

Its India, of course its silly. Yes, you need visa.

Slight drift...... does anyone know if the Indian HF operators are actual controllers or "radio operators"? Either way i would love to know why they want aircraft to make position report calls each 10 minutes! (Calls actually at reporting points, but works out to be 10 mins or so apart).

Used VCBI earlier in the week, nice area, good ATC, easy approach, excellent ground services, less than 30 mins for each turn around, and the passengers didnt have to get off to clear immigration. (Unlike the UK). From there to Indonesia was about 4 hours with excellent ATC along the way, even if some of it was HF. Indonesia itself, or at least the airport we landed in, was a pain, took about 90 minutes to stamp crew passports. But we were told that WIII was much better, or even Halim.

In case you are not getting off the aircraft and just transiting, No Visa required. In case of a night halt the crew (of most nationalities) can be provided a 72 hrs visa at the airport.

Not all airports will provide transit visas. Ahmadabad, Calcutta, New Delhi, hydrabad and Bangalore I understand will. Others such as Nagpur will not.Still struggling with Embassy for our transit visa. Clearance from DGCA required to accompany application!

The post was for Delhi. Any airports in Maharashtra namely Mumbai, Nagpur, Pune do not. All other airports accross the country do it.

We will land, refuel, pay and get off hopefully within 0345hrs.

So we try our luck without visa and if they are required we´ll try to get them there.

As far as I know, this is not possible and anyway not advisable to count on! In my experience, and that of my previous operator (that regularly operate in and out of India), you never go to India without a valid visa. Ever.
You get info from someone that this or that is ok, then you get there "No no this is not possible. Now you have to pay USD 10K and and and and...."

From Indian Gov. visa website (http://indianvisaonline.gov.in/visa/):

Remember, its your responsibility, you are the one who will stand there on the day telling clients and company "Sorry, we are stuck because I did not have the required visa".

Just read avind's post. Could be that he/she is correct.
If I was in your shoes HD I would make sure I find some sort of official document proving this statement before I leave without a visa. If you are not sure how/where to get the visa and how long it will take I would get in touch with a visa agency.

Well, I´d try to get the visa, BUT, apparently they require the Indian CAA permit before they issue one. Now that one is on request, however the Indian CAA is apparently not the quickest around. So, as the date lurches closer and closer I find myself in a Catch 22.

The Embassy had my (2nd) passport for a month before returning it with no visa.
"Referring my application to appropriate authority"
Embassy then asked for DGCA clearance.
Sent it last week but have had no acknowledgement that they have received it nor whether they are dealing with it.
Going through Ahmadabad and getting temporary landing permit worked last time but allow 3hrs plus delay and $1200.
If anyone knows how to speed up the process please let me know.
