Charter / air ambulance pilot salaries?

Hi all,

Just wondering if anyone could shed some light on salaries for air charter / air ambulance pilot salaries in the UK? (King Air operators). Also, is it possible to get work on a foreign validation (say 6 months on an FAA ATP?) whilst knocking out the JAR's?

Will be very interested to hear your take on things.

Many thanks,

CofL

Doubt you get charter/amb work on FAA in uk, possibly get something on an M reg validation though, but not AOC !

Salary for kingair skipper anywhere from high twentys to low forty's, and remember under jaa you will need a TR for a kingair ( but prob the most fun flying you will do !)

If you can find the right job with a private owner you'll double these numbers easily. Though they may not want to wait for you to become licensed, and some may prefer a bit of European experience if you have none.

As said above keep an eye out for M reg machines and the FAA licence won't be an issue. If this is what interests you make sure you have the FCC radio licence. The IOM authority requires it.

Good luck.

Not the UK I know, but new starts with my company are on $91, 500 AUD, which is about £58,000 these days. 5 year pilots are on $115,000+. :ok:

Highest paid I personally know is £86k. I know a few more who are in the 70-80 region.

It's a different job to charter, and jobs are usually word of mouth. But they are about.

Thanks all for your feedback.. Interesting salary range on here!

My own situation, cicra 3,500hrs tt flying in africa. Looking to go to UK / Europe
and do JAR conversion. I realise this will take anywhere from 6-9 months so looking at possibilities of flying on an FAA in the meantime.

@ Spam Up... I realise I would need KA TR on the Jar, thanks.:ok:

@ Silverknapper... Where do I send my CV? :hmm:

Here is what a friends company pays in the US. I know its not what you asked for, but it is probably relatively similar give or take the exchange rate.

Chief Pilot: 95K
Captain: 75K
FO: 42K

4 on/off schedule

They fly a king air 200.

Currently work as FO on King Air in Norway, at year 3 i make about 60000 pounds.
I believe top pay for Captain at my company is about 109 000,-
Pretty good i would say, given its a small airplane and all;)
