SIC Question

Hi Guys, I have 2 questions:

1. If I was to do an SIC rating on a Corporate jet type, what type would you advise this to be done on; the Hawker series, Challenger or Falcon. I am based in the UK so primarily would like to work here but open to doing so anywhere in Europe.
2. Is there any Pilot out there who has access to the aircraft and able to do the SIC, I will pay for this training.

Please PM me.

Thank you.

Because you used the term SIC, I'm presuming that you are talking about the FAA system. Since the introduction of 61.55, are you qualified to undergo training in the aircraft? Does it get you around the TSA requirements?

Hi Aeroncaman, I understand what you are saying regarding TR's. You get those like yourself who are opposed to it, then you get those who won't touch you without one. I've had my FAA CPL/IR 11 years and have applied continously, I've tried the networking route and still am without out any success. This sector is so enclosed that just to get a contact is almost a miracle. Isn't it all just buddies regardless of hours getting buddies hired in this sector.;)

Hi Mutt, yes I'm referring to the FAA SIC. As far as I'm aware the training can be conducted on the actual aircraft subject to meeting the requirements under 61.55. The same can also be done on the Isle of Man registered aircratft so long as the commander under taking the training holds an FAA ATP.

IMHO You will be doing yourself a disservice if you do the rating at SIC level on the aeroplane. All things taken into consideration, if you are going to do a FAA type, save up and go and do the full PIC type at Simcom, which would probably be the cheapest, or CAE if you can spend a bit more. I would be hesitant to employ another pilot that has not been to school, as for the most part they do lack the full benefit of a professional training organisation.

Davjet,

You have an A320/C550/C560 on your license with hours presumably? Get that backpack on and get yourself to Asia (unless you've come from there)
Surely there's something you all that. As for buying ratings I only endorse that if one has reluctantly 'inherited' that millstone - say no more DD!

As for Nepotism something to be said for employing someone who is a known quantity - that said my cup of tea isn't somebody else's and i've certainly tasted a few nasty one's. Best of luck whichever way you turn just dont nick my job!:ok:

Recommend you spend the bucks and time to get PIC rating as not much difference from SIC with FAA so that when your employer deems you worthy, you can fill the PIC position. Bummer to have SIC limitation on your certificate if your boss promots you to Captain.
