The Kathryn Aviation Report: Fog Blamed for Learjet Accident at Hobby Airport, Houston, Texas
These guys were lucky, the were flying a medevac from Southern Mexico to Galveston Texas. They diverted due to heavy coastal fog, and landed at 04:10 at Hobby Airport in Houston with a reported 200 foot ceiling. Lear landed too far down the runway - and over ran the runway - plowing through a over-run barrier 1000' from the end of 7600' runway 12R. Aircraft struck left wing tip first - aircraft doesn't look bad but left wing said to be damaged! No injuries to the 2 pilots, 2 medical staff, a young burn victim and the father. The child was driven by ambulance to Shriners Children's Hospital in Galveston. |
