CJ Type Rating
 

Hello Fello Airmen,

I am currently doing some research on training providers who are offering
CJ type ratings.

I'm not looking for the cheapest necessarily as I think the quality of training will put you in good stead for the future.

Any ideas folks on the courses available out there, potentially your own personal experience?

Looking at Europe/US/Mid-East.

Which courses are your new or current employers thinking of sending you on? That way, it narrows it down so you can get better feedback.

Your not thinking of self funding this are you and therefore FURTHER reducing EVERYBODIES T's and C's further are you? :mad::ugh:

Many (even most) UK CJ operators I know prefer you to be rated - and would rather not have to fund your rating. Of course, if they are also a TRTO, you may be able to do a deal with them. Their margins are tight so who can blame them.

This sort of thing has been happening for years it is just much more common now. My old MCC instructor paid for a 757 rating way back in 1995 as he was stuck on a Shorts 360 and all he had was turboprop experience. People will always want to give themselves the best chance of employment, that's natural. More to the point I think it is here to stay so I reckon we'll need to adapt to it!

I suspect you may be looking for a JAA/EASA or whatever they are called today rating, so my experience may not be much use to you. I went to Palomar in the U.S. and trained at LOFT AERO. It was an excellent groundschool, delivered by a driven, fun, and incredibly knowledgeable instructor called Noel, who is full time there. Streets ahead of my FlightSafety experiences.
However, if you need a JAA, I hear many good reports about the lot at Bristol - Centreline I think, or Bristol Flight Centre.

In the US, you have CAE MMU, SimCom MCO, Simuflite DFW, and FSI Wichita/Orlando/San Antonio for CE525 simulator training; FSI also has a CE525 training @ Farnborough.

As a "yank" I don't understand the ever-popular Euro PFT model...but more power to ya' if that's what you need to do...
