Hi all,
Interested to hear industry perceptions/experiences with CAE Dubai, my company is tossing up between Dubai and the U.S. for training (Corporate not airline). Difference in training methods, quality/experience of instructors etc.

Have used CAE in Wilmington NJ, DFW Texas and Dubai. Found both training centres in the States to be infinitely superior to Dubai.
Instructors in the USA were much more experienced and had more interest in their clients.
More people there for re-current training so had far better classroom discussions about a/c systems and problems experienced.

CAE Dallas good,standard of instructors at Dubai has improved substantially,now good,standard of admin at Dubai is very poor.

Course costs?? How does Dubai compare beside the US?

I can only talk about the HS 125 courses beeing held at CAE Dubai. I made very good experiences during my initial for this aircraft and, until now, 3 OPC/LPC there.
Have met very good instructors, people taking care of the customers, all questions beeing answered, good sim-schedule (day).
No-US-Visa-TSA-nightmare, just go. They even have a small restaurant, where you can recieve hot meals. (mostly chicken with rice or, on other days, rice with chicken). Never saw hot meals in any FSI centers I have been. (Tucson, Wichita, Orlando, Paris, Farnborough)
I found one disadvantage: during training with FSI on different aircraft before, I was used to receive new manuals with each recurrent. That is not happening in Dubai, I have no idea if CAE does elsewhere.

If you given the choice then the States is the way.Took over 3 years of initial and recurrents to get a proper answer to an important question!!!!

Nothing good about it except being able to be close to home.

Cost advantages for CAE Dubai for european crews is a great deal the Biz jet section has had its issues but constantly trying to improve the training procedures to be transparent with north america. Some good incentives on offer including airfare and hotel arranged through emirates the parent company.
Worth a look and review I have been going there for 10 years and I stager my training one year at Dubai and the next in the USA

@ GSA: not quite true. The Hawker 850XPi Sim is less than 1 year old.

@VD: I asked them last year if they can arrange a business-class upgrade for me for my flight to Dubai. That was not possible. I thought if you come to them as a customer who brings a big amount of money per year, that would be a piece of cake for them.

I have not been in the 125 sim, in the last year, so perhaps thats my view of the old rig.

When I first went to CAE, there was always a business class package, 5 star hotel, and the training was cheeper than US, by far.....but no polo shirt.

They now believe that EU will come to them, but with FAB being available they will loose all the EU business

Not quite true GLF. We are a happy customer since 2003 and intend to continue training in DXB.

You guys are the exception, and given the night life in FAB, I think I know why....

also the normal CAE contract, like FSI, is 12 months.

same here: They have got a HS125 sim in Farnborough as well and we have no intentions of going to Farnborough instead of Dubai.

Cho you miss the point completly: they might have great logo's, new sims and great food.... it all comes down to the instructors... :8

If you only go for the packaging I wish you luck but than I rather sit next to Bang Bus who appreciates that you get the same paper at the end but a different quality of training all together.. :rolleyes:

I'm sitting here in the executive lounge at the JW, and just finished three weeks at ECFT.

My feelings are that Dubai is as good or better than DFW, SAV or LGB, or anywhere else I've been.

1. They pick you up at your hotel
2. Food is MUCH better than any others
3. Building is better than DFW and worlds ahead of LGB or SAV
4. Dubai is a great city.
5. Instructors are about the same everywhere, I very much enjoyed the five I had here.
6. Sims are nice.

ECFT is a joint venture with CAE and Emirates. I asked about deals on tickets and upgrades, and they can't get them for the instructors who are flying here and there. Deals on hotels aren't much either, but better than in US. I pay $110++ a night for the JW!

Call them and negotiate price the best you can. I paid through Dallas, and came here so work all your angles.

Downside: Bonedaddy's is only in DFW
