HK Biz Jet salary ?

Hello,
I have completed a search but found no recent information. It appears HK is slowly removing housing and schooling from their expat packages. If that's true could anybody please tell me what sort of salary an aircraft such as a Challenger 604/605 would get now in Hong Kong? Or even better a G200 since there appears to be a few of that type based in HK. This info would be much appreciated. Thanks:ok:

Absolute minimum: 20k USD / month (payable in advance), decent per diems for every duty day (about 100$), hotac pre-paid (ask for confirmation) and pre-paid, non refundable C-Class return ticket (= unlimited change of booked flights). Best of luck - don't get ripped off!

If you can find a G200 operator prepared to pay you US$20K per month plus all the extras then you better get in there quick before the company goes bust. At that sort of expenditure there's no way they can be competitive with such a small aircraft.

Good luck to you :ok:

BAA

Your talking about BAA. No more than 10K a month on that equipment. 20K, yeah maybe back in 2007 in India, never in hong kong.

You might get USD20K/month+ on a month-month contractor deal, but that is probably a little over the mark for most longer-term 'expat' packages in HK.

As with any location, the numbers vary and these numbers are just my observations. There are always exceptions...

I would say that as a lead captain on a bigger aircraft (G550/Global) you could expect USD18K/month, +/-15% depending on the company and what you can negotiate. You might expect less flying smaller types such as G200, CL604 etc. As an FO you might expect around 60-70% of the lead captain pay.

Local tax runs at around 15%, and some employers follow local tradition and will pay a thirteenth month as a Chinese New Year bonus.

This figure includes any allowance for housing. I have not heard of any one not getting housing, and you would be mad to take a permanent job here without some sort of allowance: Hong Kong is one of the most expensive cities in the world for housing. The way that housing allowance is defined is also important: the employer needs to have an agreement with the HK tax authorities on how housing is treated to ensure that you are taxed on this allowance at a more favourable rate. Don't expect housing on par with KA/CX types. The harsh reality is that the airline guys get far better housing: probably to offset their long-haul ennui.;)

Education is a sore point, as some owners/operators will not entertain this for employees. Fortunately, schooling is not as expensive in HKG as it is in Singapore or mainland China, so this is not necessarily a showstopper.

Some contracts include annual airfares for the employee and family back to their home country. Expatriation and repatriation expenses should be covered, but don't expect to be able to bring your life with you here - it is difficult, expensive and in the end, unnecessary. Chances are the that the place you will end up living in will be smaller than what you are used to, so leave the garden furniture and ride-on-mower behind. Far better to ditch/store your old stuff and start afresh.

The market is big here and getting bigger (by the day!), which bodes well for long term prospects and stability. But as previous posters have emphasised - be careful. No employer is perfect, and HK has its share of unscrupulous operators.

Safe flying, and good luck
