Biz-jet utilisation
Just doing some research for a client's business plan. Trying to get a handle on the average number of legs flown per month/year by a typical bizjet. I know, I know - "average", "typical", both a bit meaningless, but I'm just trying to get to a number that's not a pure guess. Anyone know how many legs a NetJets acft flies p/a (and would that be a good benchmark?) Any input welcome!

Well, I can speak for our operations...
I would say about 25 legs a month, and 30\35 hours is about what we are doing lately. Small\Mid size jets. |
NJA (or any fractional, for that matter) probably wouldn't be a good benchmark because they 1. have abnormally high utilization and 2. a high number of reposition legs.
We fly roughly 30 hours/mo in our CJ2+, with an average leg length around 370nm and average segment length of 1+15. Of course, our milkrun is a 550nm trip in 1+35 but a whole bunch of short 90-150nm segments skew our average lower. |
Thanks giuys

Lear 60s, 600 hours per annum (70 hours in summers, around 40-45 in winters), average leg length just below 2 hours (1:55 or so).

Most corporate jets fly about 200 hours per years, 1 hour legs, with 2-4 pax on board.
|
I'll agree with the 2 - 4 pax, but we've done 700+ hrs in 11 months, owners only. Turning into work at this rate :hmm:
|
200 a year? 2-4 pax? What planet is this????????
|
Challenger 300. about 150 hours/year. 2-4 pax 2.5 hours sectors.
|
Approx cost to fly from, say, Luton to Nice and back with 4 or 5 people? Any ideas? Thanks. Party in Monaco - that's all.
|
The party would cost about 14 000 euro in a Challenger 300. :)
|
The GLEX fleet is averaging about 2.4 hours per cycle; cannot say about pax count, tho

200 hours (max?) with 2-4 pax??? - sounds like my kind of planet!!!!!
What or who is having a bash in Monaco this coming weekend??? Can't move for the sudden wave of 'I need to go to Nice this weekend' calls... Is someone throwing a surprise party for moi???? :ok: |
My two cents (or pennies):
I keep statistics of a Part 91 Citation Bravo in the company I fly, the boss like hard numbers and, closing the first semester of 2010 these is the data I have gathered: AVERAGE TRIP TIME: 1.05 HOURS AVERAGE FUEL BURN: 1268 PPH AVERAGE FUEL BURN: 189.4 GPH AVERAGE STAGE LENGTH: 335.0 NM AVERAGE AIRSPEED (TAS): 319 KTS TOTAL FLIGHTS GENERATED: 39 FLIGHTS TOTAL PASSENGERS FLOWN: 373 PAX TOTAL LEGS FLOWN: 131 SECTORS AVERAGE OCCUPANCY: 2.85 PASSENGERS PER SECTOR OCCUPANCY PER SECTOR: 40.7 % PASSENGER MILES: 117 NAUTICAL MILES PER PASSENGER/SECTOR DISPATCH RELIABILITY: 98.7 % These are real time numbers, that defines our specific operation, but it should be more or less representative of a light jet flown in corporate operations. Hope it helps. |
