operating to south america

was wondering if anyone has had any experiences, good or bad, operating corporate flights from europe to south america and internal flights in south america.
Appreciate any feedback

Turnrounds are slow, but otherwise much the same as everywhere else. Internal flights no problem. R/T in English (quite difficult to understand sometimes). Prices reasonable, credit cards have to be authorised in advance, no banks open on Sat/Sundays, so take a float!

Any specific areas or cities...? - Lots of different considerations.
Andes for high mountains - high elevation airports - Amazon areas...
And dense urban populations areas as well - (Coastal Brazil).
Languages - sometimes Spanish or Portuguese recommended.
I live in Argentina and part-time in Brazil, since 1993. Retired (747) airline.
Flew Learjets 20-30-55s series occasionally as well.
Give some details - or PM if required...

Thanks for info

Mexico to Barinquilla then onto Rio, possible fuel stop along the way

BelArgUSA 16th Apr 2009 21:05

Mexico City no problems - South side of runways for Gen Av.
xxx
Barranquilla good size airport - has Gen Av as well, and customs/immigration.
Cartagena 70 KM W of BAQ, one of oldest city in Spanish Americas.
Santa Marta 80 KM E of BAQ. Nice beach resort city.
Barranquilla coastal area safest of Colombia.
xxx
Manaus - suggested stop between Barranquilla and Rio,
Has customs/immigration. Look at alternate airports entire Amazon area.
Best hotel in Manaus is Tropical Resort Hotel. Great place.
Historic city (old opera) - Guided tours 1 or 2 days to native tribe villages.
xxx
Rio, suggest Santos Dumont airport, for better Gen Av FBOs.
Hotels - suggest hotels at beach (1) Ipanema or (2) Copacabana.
Rio beach areas safe at night up to 4 or 5 blocks from beaches.
Scenic - is really worth a guided tour.

Don't be surprised if you lose your gear or steering pins while parked up. Don't worry though if you do, the handlers will have "exactly" the ones you need - provided you have the cash!
