Sim Sustenance Payments
 

Hi all
Can anyone tell me what they get in sustenance payments while on initial or recurrent simulator training? My operator refuses to pay anything and I would like to present a survey of other UK/European operators in order to eat! At the moment I get only hotac with breakfast - no allowances or sutenance payments. If possible can you name company and type and whether the rate changes if you are abroad (I am)? The more responses I get the better. Please pm if you prefer. All help appreciated.

Same as what we get if away flying, 70 Euros a day.

The same as if we are flying, US $70. More if we are in Europe.

Operating a privately owned Gulfstream.

Easily covers breakfast, luch & dinner. Any other costs assosciated with work, ie phone, laundry, etc is on the expenses.

Can l suggest now is maybe not the best time to approach that subject with whoever your current employer is?

So asking for a reasonable allowance is no more what we should expect as professional pilots? How about basic pay? Should we perhaps settle with "being happy to have a job"? :confused:

Au contraire Deek. The current financial situation including exchange rates (if you happen to receive your per diem in £ :() is making life harder for crew and let's be honest a few quid per day for someone running a multi-million £/$ aircraft is nothing. The equivalent could be saved or lost in a few minutes worth of fuel.

To answer the original question £46 per diem payable from day one including training.

But what if the OP has sold his soul to the devil and volunteered to pay his own rating? Then the operator would indeed tell him to stick it..

If the OP is under a contract and under salary during training then its the usual 80-100 euros per day whether it be training/flying etc for the company.

Salary paid during training and type rating costs paid by company. Hotel including breakfast and transport also paid by company. No allowances or sustenance payments for duration of four week course.

Yes, that all sounds pretty standard, except you are missing 'per diems'.

Yep, you are indeed being ripped off.. you need to push for per diems/ daily allowances during training (basically when ever you are away on company time)

Unless, you are on an all expenses paid deal, and you simply throw all your receipts at the accountant at the end off it all.

and don't forget that if you get kicked off from the job you won't get the per diem either !:bored:

And the guys get paid what it costs in full.
No Per-diems
No half measures.

They can use the company card in exactly the same way as they can if we were down route on a line flight.

All expenses met by the company.

I can give you two more operators per diems.

Both are privately operated Gulfstreams for their owner. One based in ME & the other in Europe.

One is given US$100 a day per diem & the other Euro $100. This is basically for food & 'incidentals'.

Anything else, phones, transport, petrol, laundry, etc goes on the expense form.

I used this information before trying to get an increase. I was told to show receipts for breakfast, dinner & lunch. I did it honestly over a long period, most hotels we get complimentary breakfast either because of our FBO, loyalty, etc. Lunch costed $7 to $15 and dinner cost average $25.

I get paid a salary that I am happy with & I agreed before I joined, so I happily accepted the $70 per diem!

Admitedly, we don't spend much time in Europe, but we do get more when in Europe as needed!

If you are under contract and receiving salary during training, then same rates apply!

What happens during recurrent, or company CRM/Fire drill or wet drill days? (if you are based elsewhere than company base).. you get no per diems either??

Or during non-flying days down route?.. no per diems either?
