Money Men

So who is the money behind JR, anyone care to comment.

Also, Just because there is one big player in any market does not mean there is no room for another. BA/Virgin

Comments please

Any news on the application process yet?
Anyone had a job offer yet? Any particular profile they're looking for?

re. room for 2?

VSVS... good question

if there was room for two frax players in EU then Bombardier Flexjet would still be operating a fleet of frax aircraft in Europe.

Flexjet pulled their European fleet (of Learjets) out years ago, presumably after the 'fledgling' NJE gave them a commercial whipping... Which is exactly what the now 'mature' NJE will do to JR and VJ.... IMHO.

pt-wind 18th May 2009 15:41

Exactly right Grecian.

NJE prices crumble at the first sign of a serious threat. Be very assured that if any JR prospect is talking to NJE, then NJE will offer anything to stop the client going with JR: 30% price discount, free upgrades, no extra charges, fixed flight times, residual guarantees, you name it... you'll get it.

Anyone who thinks otherwise is forgetting just how much NJE has at stake in Europe. NJE need every possible sharer to fill their existing jets and those they still have on order. They killed FlexJet Europe and they will starve VJS and JR to stop them reaching critical mass.

It's like BA and Virgin all over again, only neither Flohr nor Breeze have Branson capabilities.

Flintstone 18th May 2009 16:17

Like the battle many years ago between VHS and Betamax video? Funny thing was that Betamax was the better system and the VHS producers had to beat them down with money. I'm not saying JR will be better but let's face it there are areas that NJE could improve upon and as someone's already said here the knee-jerk responses from them to anything to do with JR suggests that they are indeed worried.

Rather interestingly I spoke to someone today (with no interest in either JR or NJE) who said that INAC had indicated that they welcome competition for NJE. Nothing to do with any additional income and responsibility for INAC I'm sure;) but an interesting comment from the local regulatory authority nonetheless.

VHS vs Betamax

no Flinstone,

Nothing to do with the price. Betamax lost because the didn't offer any porn titles on their system :E (Betamax=Philips=Dutch, go figure!)

As a NJE employe I'm cautiontly observing the otherside of the street, but as a pilot I welcome any new jobs, especialy in the current climate.

"....only neither Flohr nor Breeze have Branson capabilities"

I have no idea about Breeze, but making a sweeping statement about Flohr, I'm not sure you have the knowledge!

VSVS 18th May 2009 19:07

Well Lets see,

Very interesting and well offered answers on the like BA vs Virgin. But no answers to where the money is coming from.

It is very easy to say that NJE will slash prices to whatever is needed to see off JR. However, It can also be the Death of a company. You can not throw to much money into the toilet before you flush yourself you away.

At the onset of "Buffet" comes turbulence maybe....????

Come on guys, what do you really think
:):):):)

wondering 18th May 2009 21:16

Heard the other day that JR cancelled half their LR60XR order. Mind you the Bombardier LR60XR delivery schedule is a fraction compared to last year.

Hankers 18th May 2009 22:37

90k and 6 on 4 off! Interesting, wouldn't mind trading my 7 on 6 off roster at NJE for that ;)

lear60fellow 19th May 2009 07:36

90K net or gross? so 18 on and 12 off, any holidays? more info is welcome to everybody

Iver 20th May 2009 01:27

I wonder how many VistaJet Lear 60XR drivers would make the move to JR? I hear VistaJet do not pay that well.

Still, the proof is in the pudding and I'd like to see if Jet Republic actually starts up someday...

Der_Fischmeister 20th May 2009 07:59

hi

For now i heard they only invited Airman who dont even have a Lear 60 Rating.

But I think ,Business starts lightening up a little ,so lets see whats happening .

cheers

JR will be no factor. Wrong aircraft choice, lousy manager (great talker though) on top and russian market (their target) drying up quickly (number of russian millionaires are going down at an incredible rate).....

The russian money behind will dry up as well, so after 2 years the operation will be finished.

Their aircraft choice and pricing will not match NJ aircraft and pricing, certainly not if NJ reduces the pricing model by some 10% on certain types....

The great talker will loose his acclaimed selfmade millions (over the quality of my hotelbed by the way), and be out of business in 2 years (JB sans rancune, but it was the wrong airframe you picked mate....., but so far the marketing side is gooing along very nice, cheers!)

For the pilots, 6 and 4 is worse than NJ. And the offered 90.000 will be in the same legal format as NJ. So that means that a few people throughout europe (french, dutch, danish, germans, italians) will be disappointed in 2 years when all legal proceedings are finished (at NJ) and many have to pay tax in their own country and will have to see how they can get the paided taxes back from portugal.....

lear60fellow 20th May 2009 16:18

Holyman, you´re 100% right

Hankers 20th May 2009 20:10

You sound like an insider James. Go on give us a pprune exclusive and tell us how many shares have been sold? The thing is, Breezy has been putting himself around every magazine and newspaper who will talk to him getting every bit of publicity possible. So why doesn't he disclose the number of contracts? I find that VERY suspicious, if he'd sold fifty he would be shouting it from the rooftops!

The problem i have with your post James is that you have tried to turn the tables back on the Netjets crew by saying "whats wrong with us all".
So here comes the question. Who was it stood on the wing of a Learjet at the Farnborough Airshow PUBLICALLY claiming that Jet Republic was going to be better than Netjets? We all know the answer to that question, so really you have no grounds for complaint if/when Netjets staff turn on you/Jet Republic.

JB can talk until he is blue in the face but the fact remains Jet Republic are NOT going to be able to avoid the same costs Netjets did in the early years (mainly positioning aircraft an crew across Europe) to fulfil their contractual obligations. They will be operating into the same airports (except London City and probably Egelsbach, saucer of milk svp) and therefore will encounter the same capacity issues as Netjets do. Please oh please tell me what is going to be different, the fact it's "a good club, a proper club" and it has an expresso machine?

And thanks for the advice by the way, just been to the gym and hopefully lightened up by a couple of pounds.

Holyman 20th May 2009 23:30

Hi James,

You circumnavigated every point I made, but remained in "sales mode". So I will put it more bluntly to you:

1. Wrong aircraft. Too expensive, too small, too much fuel burn, lousy take off and landing performance. Wring match against Hawker 750 - 850 and Citation XLS+ in Europe.

2. Russian money behind it is drying up.

3. Russiana are main target (black colour scheme), but russian millionaires will be out of money sooner than the made it in the 2002 to 2004's.

4. JB is a good talker but lousy manager. He keeps everybody outboard instead of onboard.

5. 6 on 4 off is worse than Netjets.

6. The legal side of the contract worth 90.000 is JUST as lousy as NetJets Europes legal side.

I am hoping the best for the pilot's interest as well. But you are not trying to get NetJets people in your operation since youre on-off schedule is worse and your pay is worse. So you are aiming at the group of pilots not aware of the critical succesfactors of a new startup. Together with the wrong airframe choice, good luck! (Let's talk again in may 2011....)

Holyman 20th May 2009 23:37

Oh James,

Maybe may 2010 will suit as well.......because maybe only 1 year is enough as well.

Bring me a good manager and a good plan (no lear's 60) with substantial money behind it (read willing to loose 200 million first 4 years) than we can talk....but Jonathan and his bunch, no way.......

PS

NetJets Europe fired a pilot for Toxic contamination whilst on duty in one of their aircraft, you would do everybody a favour and have my best wishes for the future if you give this person a non flying Fleet Managerial job.........

And raise your salaries to 110.000 for a captain, and some of us will help you to make the best of it (they will forgive the 6 and 4...)

3MTA3 21st May 2009 06:09

Let's see on a pure candidate point of view (regardless of the future of the company): I've been asked to spend some precious time during the peak season and spend a substantious amount of money for the travel/hotel without even giving me a single detail on the contract: pay, time off, all of this to be evaluated by beople I won't even work for. Am I motivated?

VSVS 21st May 2009 06:37

Re: 90k and Tax

Regardless of the future of the company I think you will find that if you live in some of the European (not UK) countries you will be better off paying Tax in your country of residence. Thats if you have a family and mortgage.
