Hi, can anyone advise where to sit the ATP written in the UK, and is there a mini course that can help you with a first time pass.

Try Gleim and do your ATP written test in Farnborough with FlightSafety. Tests are done every Tuesday and Thursday at 1500L, cost is 150 GBP. Don't worry, everything is low threat (80 questions in 3 hours, 70% passing grade).:ok:

A little story :

After I passed my ATP written, a friend of mine asked me for advice as he needed to get the FAA ATP together with a type rating.
He decided to buy Gleim's CD instead of the book, and although a brilliant pilot, he failed. I offered him to lend my book and he passed with 94%.
He also took care to download the latest update from Gleim's website.

This to say that the book is perharps more user friendly, and you may find more occasions to read it than playing the CD.

I find it more confortable to read a book, be able to write down notes, than screening the screen of a computer (I reserve this for PPRuNE :))

The Gleim CD is in exactly the same format as the exam on the screen and provided you follow the well researched and designed study method (which most people don't as they think they know better) it is very easy. Don't forget that the questions are THE exam questions.
Once you have studied through the questions just do the practice exams every day and you will easily pass. There is NO need to read a book or in fact to write anything down. I did neither and got 96%. Leave the flight planning questions till last as you can pass without even answering them. There are no trick questions like the JAA/CAA.:ok:

Plus you get three hours to do the exam. It can be in just over an hour with practice.

Of course, the DOB should have been in the wrong order, that explains my paltry 95% - at last I can sleep :zzz:
