I am a 604 freelance captain (FAA and JAA) and those are the rates I charge (600£+ 70£ perdiem.. travel days count as days.. Client pays hotel and transfers)

Anybody need part time or full time 604 pilot?

Flintstone 15th Nov 2007 16:04

You have mail.

Deeko01 15th Nov 2007 21:24

you are all starting to get expensive btw

Flintstone 15th Nov 2007 21:31

Expensive?

Give us a break. For a change there's a bit of a pilot shortage and it's not like our wages are a major percentage of running an aircraft.

Freelance Crews

Well deek, you obviously have never had to fork out for a 604/605 type rating!!!Let me enlighten you on some figures .
$36000 for a recurrent ,yes recurrent not initial.
Initial around$40000 then add on international proceedures rvsm mnps, hire of a plane & TRE to do your six circuits £1000 a day ,aircraft at £4000/hr if you can persuade some owner to let you borrow it to do circuits!! £2500 for 605 differences then the cost of air tickets to the states/canada hotels plus loss of earnings & what do you suggest we charge?:=

I agree wholeheartedly with the two above posts.

I think the title of this thread is a breath of fresh air, What should WE charge? How many operators out there tell you what they will pay. I cant think of another industry that operates like that. Imagine you had a pipe burst in the middle of the night and you told the plumber on the phone that you'd pay hime no more than 50 quid and if he used any parts you'd want to see the reciepts. Youd be talking to yourself.

A new Challenger will probably cost in the region of $28 million, In the UK it's likely to cost about 60 grand a year for a shead to put it in. Training costs are high and sim slots are scarce.

I dont have any sympathy for owners and operators who cant cope with paying the professionals who operate their aircraft comparative pocket change. If you cant stand the heat.................

Go for it guys: input: input:

At last a breath of fresh air.

The sim costs are massive, and the expected returns are lower than they should be.

A G550 initial is 25k stg, in SAV, plus the "optional" extras, RVSM, BRNAV, MNPS, Int procs, then add some form of professional liability insurance, plus travel and accomodation.

The final cost for a freelance G550 initial is a massive 35k stg, out of your pocket.

Without my spread sheet infront of me, there is a three month period to cover the initial costs, before you earn monoy to feed your family.
Or even may I say, pay tax.

Two months to cover a recurrent.

Then you need to find clients.........................

It's starting to become interesting. I would be grateful for more info on daily rates for the the above aircraft and perhaps others. Thanks

One thinks Deek may be at the other end of the market and trying to avoid paying drivers too much!!!!
