New Jetstream operation Biggin Hill

Hearing rumours of a new start up J31 operation out of Biggin Hill.

Anyone with any more information?

Ta very much.

I thought scheduled operations weren't allowed at Biggin. ISTR that this was the problem that Platinum had a few years back. I'm making the assumption that its for scheduled as I can't imagine anyone using a Jetstream for corporate work.

From the little I know it is not scheduled! Something to do with a cargo outfit, although can't imagine J31s being used to haul cargo!

I'll try and find out more but that's all I know.

I heard it was to be used for ferrying crews.

Crew positioning for DC-10 operator Avient...DC-10's op ex XCR into Africa and are Zimbabwe registered..

Ray Ban 9th Nov 2007 20:21

Used the search function - found some stuff on Avient!:E

Presume crew positioning in Europe only. Does anyone know if the plane will also be Zimbabwe registered like the freighters? Can such a registered plane be based in UK or any other JAA member state?

I'd been approached about this job recently but turned it down mainly because of location, now I'm curious to know more!

Certainly the Z- registered DC-10s operate from the UK and France regularly.

Would be surprised if the Jetstream was registered as Z though.

Good gosh, I'm surprised that anyone flies these aeroplanes anymore.
There are stacks of 'em parked up at KIGM, all gathering desert sand.
I first viewed this aeroplane at KLGB, circa 1968, when it was known as the HP Jetstream, with Aztazou-Turbomecca engines, then re-engined later on with Garretts.
Seemed like a fine aeroplane then but getting rather long in the tooth now.
Very long.:}

Now, the J41...much better.
Good value for money with this machine.

G-IJYS has been doing a few flights into/out of the UK and Vatry recently.

JB007 24th Nov 2007 12:10

One for the spotters....

G-IJYS isn't too old, ex Eastern, I saw it at Wick often, before Eastern it was operated by Air Kilroe for a certain Jackie (Young) Stewart

Fried_Chicken 24th Nov 2007 18:15

G-IJYS is currently semi-based at Coventry.

Possibly Coventry based operator Jetstream Express may be doing the maintenance?
