King Air down in Chattanooga
A Beech King Air has come down in a supermarket car park.

A lucky escape for all concerned. Pure speculation of course, but with considerable impact forces and no ensuing fire, I wonder what their fuel state was?
|
Considering KingAirs burn Jet fuel, they are much less likely to catch fire than an airplane burning Avgas.
The flight originated at Birmingham, AL, a 45 minute flight. http://www.firefightingnews.com/imag...os/planefp.jpg |

Here is the FAA preliminary report - double engine failure.
How about the "arm chair" experts save their speculation and wait for the facts from the FAA/NTSB investigation? |
Please:
both engines fail on short final? and we don't think fuel might be an issue? that isn't even speculation. now, starvation or exhaustion will be an interesting question for the NTSB/FAA. \axiom: he who crossfeeds once, crossfeeds twice. |
Anyone have a picture showing the props?
|
There was a second picture showing the front but you cannot see the props due to the extensive damage.

One of the bystanders who helped the pilot out stated that he said they had run out of fuel.

Speculation of the cause apart (Fuel mismanagement ??) I looked at the aerial picture of the site, the pilot did a very good job finding that parking lot !!
