I was under the impression that bonds were illegal anyway. Not that I've ever had to consider the ramifications but a man in the pub said that his brother's next door neighbour told him so it must be true.

The bond is not illegal in itself; what is illegal is to prevent someone from leaving a job. So if bonding is used for this purpose, one can go to court and will win.

Example : the airplane type rating costs 20000; the employer wants to do a progressive bonding like first 3 years recovering 40% then year 4 another 10% and year 5 the remaining 50%. This not legal; so do not fight this agreement; sign it ! Since it is void in its essence you will be able to leave anytime. If the Employer wants to bond you in regular instalments which the sum of them is higher then the price of the service; do sign it as well; good deal for you, this does not work either.
This is why most of bonding practices are calling for the individual to contract a loan on its name, with the conditions he/she get from their bank, and the employer is just paying a monthly fees, or sometimes nothing, since you have paid yourself a TR.

however if the company fires you during the bonding period, you do not have to pay the remaining part of the bond; since this is preventing you for having a new job. Net jets is using Seat-Locking now after the initial type rating in order to avoid these hick-ups.

Bottom line; take the job as long as not too much vaseline is required...

Yes they do take B200 rated pilots. Our company operates B200's and we have lost a few pilots to Netjets over the last 12 months.

Anyone had a phone interview recently (since Christmas 2007)? Heard nothing so far!
Any advice for prep literature or prep software for those new computer testings?

What type (psychometric, like SHL?) of testing is BA doing?

Guess all those Germans, Norwegians and French guys will have fun with that type of "British Testing".

Had it today. Half the lack of language training, other half the jitters put me so down. Prepare your self for questions about instruments, meteo and CRM. Anyone knows how many time should I wait to apply again?

I am of the understanding that if NJE OFFER you a fleet change ( e.g Hawker to Falcon ) then they do NOT re-bond.

However, if a crew member ASKS to change fleet, then the bond applies.

If it were otherwise, then there would be no cross fleet movement, would there?

your bond is for the first aircraft, whatever it is C550 or G500; the subsequent changes are only seat-locking you 2 years ( CPT, LTC, TRI...)

With the new contract you are now bonded for every new substantial course, wether it be a TRI/TRE course or a new type rating. BONDED and seat locked.....you will be. For an upgrade on the same type of airplane you are flying there is no bond.

For those upgrading onto a new type, they will be bonded for a period of 24 months.

That is what the contract says, now whether they hold anyone to it is another matter, and if that is what you refer to, it is naive to just disregard what the contract actually says.

The fact that they won't hold you to it. Unless you are still in your initial bonding period. For those who have been in the company for greater than that time, have upgraded and are offered a fleet change after lengthy time in service, there will be no bond.

Typical, the word 'lengthy', what does that mean, 2 years, 3 years, 5 years, 8 years?

So anyone know how much a guy with about 8,000 hours commercial pax jet time mostly wide body and a few thousand hours command on a 737 efis would take home and time to command etc

NJE vs RyanAir
 

I'm looking for opinions on NJE vs RyanAir. Seems like not many are happy with work relations at RyanAir. QOL seems to be good being home every night (after perhaps a long day). Pay seems to be higher at RyanAir. NJE website only lists starting year's salary...Does the salary stay the same (except for inflation increase)...meaning that longevity is rewarded via the annual bonus? Thoughts from others who have perhaps considered these two companies??? Thanks!
