Energetic pilot, from memory, if you have diabetes and require medicine (insulin) then you won't be holding a Class 1 medical. :)

You can pay extra for more coverage but as one who's stuck with the NHS, BUPA is definitely a nice bonus.

Energetic Pilot 22nd Oct 2007 12:26

@ redsnail
yes, I know and I hold a Class 1 medical. But I don´t know what happens in 10, 20, 30 years! And I have a wife & daughter to care for as well. So I have a double problem: loss of licence -> less money AND I have to pay for e.g. insuline!!!

I don´t compare NHS with BUPA. I live in Germany so I have to compare my present German system with BUPA!!!

Partners?

Hi,

My boyfriend is applying to netjets, he currently flies private business jets and is home a lot. If he does get a job at netjets how do they treat partners???? Am a bit worried I am never going to see him again!!
Thanks

Flintstone 26th Oct 2007 00:01

He'll be away for six days at a time so please send me your phone number, photo and address.

I'm home a lot too :E

johnbull69 26th Oct 2007 16:02

What is the take home pay of a capt/fo on the new deal? I have searched pprune but the answers are miles apart. Really keen to join but just need to know some honest figures.
Cheers in advance

boyfisapilot,

That's not a smilie at the end of Flintstone's post, that's actually a picture of him. Therefore you're better off sending those details to me!

Pay

I can't help you much with the take home pay. But, as an F/O you will be making 56,500 Euros. As a captain 95,000.

If your gateway is in the UK you will be taxed in the UK. If you live anywhere else in Europe (apart from Portugal) you will pay 25% flat rate non resident income tax in Portugal. If you live in Portugal you pay standard Portuguese tax.

You will pay UK National insurance in any case, except if you live in Portugal.

So, you should be able to work out the take home pay using web based tax calculators.

Per diems are tax free and average 1000 Euros a month.

johnbull69 26th Oct 2007 19:29

Captain €95,000 after 25% tax and 8% NI to uk =aprox €6300 pm including per diems.
FO €56500 after 25% tax and 8% NI to uk =aprox €3156 pm including per diems.
Does this look correct to all the Netjet crews?

And this is Harry :}

Come, come my dear. It's me you need to be seeking. If your boyfriend goes to Netjets they'll work him like a dog and he'll spend all his days off recuperating in time for his next tour. He'll be no use to you whatsoever, trust me :O

the_bookkeeper 27th Oct 2007 07:17

@johnbull

Just correct me if I am wrong, but salary as first office should be 4000-4400 Euro net (including per diems)
captains salary should be correct

yannick04 27th Oct 2007 21:42

I start in Jan. I hope its going to be fast upgrade (6000+TT). I have figured out about 5500 plus per diem. Actually I just bought a house based on that salary... :ugh:

resa32 27th Oct 2007 22:02

johnbull69...

NI to UK is lower for Captains... Net will be about 6700-6800

the_bookkeeper 28th Oct 2007 08:28

@yannick04: I also will start in January. see you there in lisboa!
I am sure you will get an upgrade within one year with your flighttime

ComJam 28th Oct 2007 15:08

Having bumped into lots of NetJets crews "down-route" over the past 2 years (including Reddo :)) you all seem happy with the job. Am i right? And would you still recommend it as good place to be?

(6000 Hours total, 2500 Falcon 20, 1200 Beech 200 (900 Command))

redsnail 28th Oct 2007 15:28

CJ, no job's perfect but it's not a bad one. To be fair, haven't worked for another bizjet operator in Europe. With your time you should upgrade reasonably quickly and I reckon you'd fit in pretty well with the operation.
You might actually have to do a day's work instead of a million ILSs or run away from missiles. :E

The contract issues are a lot simpler if you're UK based.

Riker 29th Oct 2007 02:01

Hey Yannick and Bookkeeper,

Congrats on the position with NJE. Just curious - were you told which aircraft types you might get assigned? Did they give you a choice of aircraft types?

Understanding that you could get any aircraft type, is it "reasonable" to assume that Beechjet, Bravo, XL/XLS or Hawker 800XPs are the most likely aircraft to be assigned based on fleet numbers? How often is one lucky enough to get a F2000 or even a very rare Gulfstream FO slot?

Cheers

lharle 29th Oct 2007 07:50

I hope I will be the lucky one on the 11TH of february.
But no idea about my chances to get it.

natops 29th Oct 2007 08:17

type allocation

Gd morning,
Agree with Mike, normally pilots without enough hours for a fast upgrade will be put on the bigger fleets, read Falcon/Gulfstream, as FO's. You will be seatlocked for about 2 years I think it is now. After the upgrade course you will be put on a smaller fleet for your first command with Netjets.
When you have enough hours for a quick command then you will get a FO seat on a smaller fleet. On the H800 you will move then from right to left on the same type. I think it is the same on the XL fleet.
During the indoc course you will find the type you're on on the cover of the linetrainingfolder.
Good luck.
D:ok:

Riker 29th Oct 2007 13:26

Natops,
Thanks for your reply. I realize that the Falcons/Gulfstreams can fly anywhere worldwide on demand for share owners at any time. That said, do the Falcons/Gulfstreams fly the majority of their trips in and around Europe or are they frequently flying further afield (e.g., States, Africa, Asia, etc.)? What is the percentage mix of flying (Europe vs. non-Europe) in your estimation? Just curious - what would a schedule on the Gulfstream, for example, look like - a mix of short flights and then a few longer-haul trips here and there? I understand you could fly anywhere at any time. PMs are welcome.

Also, is there a fleet count somewhere online in terms of number of Falcons, Gulfstreams, upcoming orders, etc.?

Cheers

Riker

you are obviously very keen to get onto long haul fleet, however, assignment of aircraft type is done by the company. Unless things have changed, and I don't believe they have, you do not have any direct influence on that.

What does tend to influence fleet assignment is your experience level, and on what/where that experience was gained. To reinforce what others have said, the more experience you have the LESS likely you are to get big fleet. This is simply because if you go big fleet you are usually looking at minimum 2 years in the right seat. Also please remember that when you do move to left seat you do NOT stay on big fleet, you move to small/medium cabin to get command.

The fleet mix is around 2/3 to 3/4 small and medium cabin, G5 and Falcon slots are not that unusual at Indoc. G5 is usually long haul, from what I see Falcon classic tends to be similar routes to H800, Easy tends to go a little further afield.

As I am sure has been mentioned there is no such thing as a typical week. You have a fixed roster that tells you the days you are working, 6on/5off for small and medium, mix of 6on/5off and 7on/6off large cabin. You often don't know where you might end up at the end of the day, let alone a week in advance. If it is important to you to know in advance where you will be going during a tour, then this is the wrong job to be in.

Hope that helps, have a good day:)
