Ear Plugs?

I was on the apron the other day doing a swift pre-flight and noticed the pilot of a Falcon 2000 doing his walkaround with an unusual pair of ear plugs. Sadly I was prohibited from walking over as I would have to cross a taxiway.

The plugs appeared to be made of rubber with the connecting arm hanging below the chin (a bit like a wish bone).

Has anyone seen plugs like this and if so can you point me in the direction so I can go buy some?

Cheers! :)

Thanks. Here in the UK we don't have K-Mart but we do have Asda/Wall-Mart so maybe I'll find it there. I'm desperate to get some decent plugs as the apron is a noisy place with engines and APUs running.

I have ear defenders but they're as big as my Telex headset which barely fits into my small flight bag as it is!

A rotary friend of mine put me onto these and they are by far the best thing I have used.

Simply a custom made plug for your ear, similar to what tv and security people wear.

Basically they plug the bottom of the ear with a thing that looks like a tiny clear plastic mushroom with a long stem which is hollow.

Next they pour in the goo and it sets with the clear tube sticking out.

The comm tube is then connected to an umbilical or in my case plugged.

Perfect fit, reusable, excellent noise suppression what more do you need.

I made the case to my health insurer that I work in a high noise environment and the cost incurred in prevention are far less than NIHL claims. They covered 85% of the cost.

I had the same and you can have it for free at London Lutton at the first floor of the Signature FBO.

Can you elaborate lharle. Who do you ask at Signature? What make are these earplugs? Can you get them anywhere else in the UK does anyone know?
