BN Trislander Comments
Gentlemen: I am interested in any comments anyone has regarding the reliability, engineering issues, safety record of the Britten-Norman Trilander. I am considering buying one because of its implied versatility, but I dont know too much about them. so far all I've seen is good.
Thanks in advance. Gil |
It spells Trislander...
Couple of things to look at : The wing is lifed, so are the undercarriage tubes. Are you thinking of buying an ex-Lydd Air? Oh! And unlike the Islander, the Trislander is not STOL. |
In the US it is referred to as the Puerto Rican DC-10.

Trislander
Thanks for the correction and the info I knew that it has limited life time. I thought the whole airframe is limited to 20,000 hours. The Puertorican DC-10 ... good one...
I am looking at one in Canada. C-GOXZ Waiting for info from seller before making a decision to inspectit or not. So please keep the comments coming. Thanks Gil |
Trislander is good old workhorse, carry about 1500kg ish but the keep it out of iceing and watch out for carb ice ( Ive never flown anything like it for carb ice) Fuel burn approx 3 litre per min at 130 kt ias can hold 700 tot
