Piaggio P180 Avanti

Spotted this interresting bird at YYC the other day, anyone here fly/flown it? And was that a Ferrari Emblem I spotted as well?

If it was I-FXRB then oddly enough it is owned by Ferrari SPA!

Like this was it....! :)

Side on
Tail
Nose

Do they have any other aircraft??

I think you may find that Piaggio are part of the Fiat group, as is Ferrari......bet they got a good discount!

Thanks for the help guys, I had no idea Ferrari was part of the Fiat group, and this is the first time I've heard of Piaggio. But isn't the Auto side of Fiat seperate from their Aero side, or am I getting them confused with Saab?

Thats the beauty right there, C GWRK. I should have thought to check airliners first. Apparently owned by Avia Aviation, I think its a fractional ownership plane. This is one of the most interresting birds I've seen at YYC, so it kind of peaked my interrest. Anyone else have any other info on the P180?

Piaggio Aero Industries is not part of the Fiat Group. Its majority stockholder is Aero Trust, an Italian investment group. Piaggio's chairman is Piero Ferrari, son of the eponymous Enzo, and he has developed a marketing strategy that reflects the link (Michael Schumacher wears a Piaggio logo on the visor of his helmet, though ironically it was his Williams-driving brother Ralf who used to operate an Avanti!). At this month's NBAA Convention in Orlando a Ferrari and Maserati (also part of Fiat) were displayed alongside a full scale mockup of I-FXRB on the Piaggio stand. Ferrari uses — but so far as I am aware does not actually own — two Avantis, which are operated by charter company Foxair.

The Piaggio is a great fun aeroplane - a single pilot light twin that does 380 knots at FL410, a cabin the size of a Hawker and it doesn't require a type rating on the FAA rules!!
It's really nice in the air but a handful on the ground in a crosswind - practice your footwork and don't be too enthusiastic with the reverse:ok:
