Another important note that I found in the above link:

Aircraft with a first CofA prior to 1 January 2018 and equipped with FANS 1/A data link prior to this date are exempted from compliance.

Our OM-B wants us to include 'CPDLC' when making initial calls in the North Atlantic region. Even though CPDLC is mandatory in the region. I reckon for consistency, we include 'CPDLC' in all initial calls regardless of region. Anybody has a proper RT reference?

The European CPDLC-ATN mandate is delayed until Dec 2020 as per EU 2020/587. There are quite a number of limited and permanent exceptions for various listed aircraft types.

CPDLC Mandatory in Europe?

On return flight from the Eastern Med a few days ago, as PM on that sector, spent at least the first third trying and failing to log in. We were back in ĎWesterní europe before we succeeded. I canít really compare to previous experiences as CPDLC was new to me just before being furloughed in March and Iíve only just returned.

@Jump Complete, as you mentioned Western Europe, where exactly. All of the Atlantic coastal countries work with FANS1 and ATN, the rest of Europe only uses ATN, is your aircraft capable of both FANS1 and ATN?
