A mediocre company getting 4000 applications (likely the majority are from applicants without a pilots license - but no need to disclose that part.. :-) ) Well, it serves to prove the desperate state the that pilot profession is in (from those who applied and actually had a pilots license!).. Needless to say that the exodus will likely be of a similar character..

For someone who has in their own bibliography 'Awesome', try and be awesome and lead by example and help others to stay motivated in difficult times. A massive load of pilots got booted out of their companies, were in the transition of changing jobs in a good market and got discontinued or cadets who have just finished their training moving heaven and earth to get a message back from a company and hopefully an invitation. Be thankful for what you have, because apparently it is not "a mediocre company" where you work, but show some support for your colleagues who are motivated to get back to work or to get a job.

What I said is correct. You may have a different view on this, but that doesn't change an industry perspective. As you correctly mention, the unfortunate fact that lots of pilots lost their jobs, is the main reason that VJ is now having their moment in the sun - nothing else.
And for the record, I went for the VJ assessment back somewhere around 2010, passed it and was told to await further contact by some accountable manager (Mr. Amb or something like that). Nothing further ever happened after that. I wasn't particular keen on joining them in the first place - so I left it at that. Lots of other successful applicants had the same happen to them. I suppose you don't like to hear this, since it might come across as unmotivating to you, but not everybody lives by the ostrich method. Good luck with updates on their recruitment site.

I guess bad luck what happened to you and your fellow applicants. I think everybody who applied is well aware of the stories that have been told by others who have applied or have worked there, but also stories of people who work there currently.

I don't really live by an ostrich method, I'd rather just try and see what happens. If you go in with too many expectations, then there is high chance of being disappointed. what happened to you, is disappointing at the least, but that was 11 years ago. Maybe things have changed, maybe they haven't. But if someone wants to go to an assessment, i'd rather get a motivational boost with some sense of reality instead of just negativity.

You can say that it's 11 years ago, which is indeed a fact, however that doesn't disqualify the event as factual and therefor also reality. Perhaps things have changed at VistaJet - perhaps not. It's free for anyone to be selective about what they take from this forum, and it's fair enough that you prefer to go for an opportunity and simply see what happens. But you can't expect to only get fed positive stories in here, when there are realities that are not just that. Good luck with the assessment if you get called.

Understanding you were there in 2010, means you’ve working a while in this industry. For me it has been since 2018. Still here to see what is around. Definitely not expecting only good stories on here, but loads of people come on this forum and smash opportunities in to the ground by saying “where I work is way better” and then do not share where they work or anything else. Same as “I am going on holiday to the Algarve” and get a reply “my parents have a beach house in Barbados”. Does not add anything.

I’d suggest it’s no less informative than the nonsense you’ve posted yourself. Suggesting the majority of the applications are from people without licences? Really?

I fail to see what you and a couple of others are offering to this thread. Your only experience of VistaJet appears to be failing the selection process, the others appear to have none at all other than having once spoken to some crew.

The downsides have been well noted on here. It’s really not complicated, if you can’t make those downsides work then don’t apply.

Anyone who goes in happy with those downsides should be very pleasantly surprised when they actually get online. Contrary to what some may think, most of us actually thoroughly enjoy our job and, as far as I can tell, morale is generally high! Get a good crew, a moderate workload and some nice destinations and it’s like going on vacation with your buddies. Personally I love it.

Thanks Alanpartridge.

Can I assume you work for VistaJet? Any chance on sharing some experiences?

All the best!
