Even without such bleak prospects, I can't help but think that someone with 18+ years of widebody command has better options. He seems pretty fixated on SA. I wonder what's really going on.

I can tell you what’s going on: We’d like to retire in Cape Town due to various reasons. This gig would fit our lifestyle perfectly. We got friends, family and property there, so there you go. Nothing sinister at all.
And as for being serious: Yes, I am serious and my initial post was serious as well. I’m just a bit careful because if it sounds too good to be true usually it is too good to be true, ain’t it? Hence, I only believe it once the plane is there and I can check it out. It’s called due diligence...

I meant it wasn't clear if the "prospective aircraft owner" was serious. Sounds like it still isn't.

So, @White Sausage , did you end up taking the job or did it turn out to be unattractive. Cheers.

I’m still waiting to meet him personally to see if it’s a go or no go. I got this offer through a mutual friend, so I don’t know this guy personally yet. But if this gentleman is serious and everything checks out for sure I will take it up, the conditions are very attractive for me. Please bear with me, as soon as I know something I’ll let y’all know

I've found the really good jobs don't happen quickly, good luck.

G650 friends of mine in Nigeria get about USD400k per year on 6/6 contracts with business class travel between home bases in Europe or RSA. Obviously there is a premium in there for having to put up with Nigeria, but maybe that helps.

That’s sounds incredible! Where can I sign? I don’t mind Nigeria either, it’s not that far from SA...
