Pilatus to unveil PC-24 Twinjet at EBACE May 21 2013

PC-24 project

The PC-24 project – the new business jet by Pilatus – is making good progress. Last year, the Board of Directors gave the definite green light to the biggest, fastest and most complex aircraft that Pilatus has ever built. On 21st May this year, the aircraft will be presented to the general public at the European Business Aviation Convention & Exhibition (EBACE) in Geneva. EBACE 2013

Dreams of making a great product better.

I hoped that Pilatus would release a PC12 with a pair of Williams turbofans bolted on down the back, replacing the PT6.

What a shame that won't be the PC24

Dream on !

pithblot: how about PC12 with contra-rotating prop and 2 smaller engines in the nose? Higher weights, longer range, faster speed and no worrying about failures (apart from I guess the prop gearbox). A chap can dream.

Booglebox,
A nice idea Booglebox, but why not use bigger engines? Rock solid U/C and arrestor hook for real short field work. Maybe borrow the Double Mambas and add a nice executive interior from Stans; with lids for the coffee cups so the boss doesn't spill his Latte during the Cat.Shot. And the trap.

Call it the PC34, Pilatus Gannet ?

The Fairey Gannet - YouTube

A really mind boggling aircraft.

I like it. Let's pitch it to Pilatus
As a bit of a museum nerd I've seen a few Gannets up close. Construction is like a combination of ship and tank - always amazed that they actually fly.

Love the dirt strip and the look of the Australian outback in the promotional brochure given that the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Oz would probably be the world's biggest operator of the PC12.

Can just see a PC24 rocking up to a remote community scattering the cans and camp dogs blowing a dust cloud fit to cause a blackout for 30 min or more.

Would certainly put all the other manufacturers super-suave brochures with elegant people and red carpets rolled out to the waiting jets to shame.

Pilatus to unveil PC-24 Twinjet at EBACE May 21 2013

Anyone notice Pilatus are looking for an AFM author "for a new FAR23 aircraft"? Only 5 days to the announcement but this could be a sneak peak to the aircraft. It'll be a real shame if its just a stol phenom 100. It's a step in the right direction but at 5700kgs it has limited versatility. In order to match the size of a PC12, even using modern materials and structural reinforcing techniques, it'll have a BEW around 3000kg which doesn't leave a lot left over. I wonder if they'll achieve the magic 8 place 2000nm stol numbers with such a limited MTOW?

Time will tell, 5 more days!

PC24 unveiled

What happens when a Learjet tail merges with a Legacy look-a-like forward fuselage after you've taken a good look at what Grob's SPn wasn't and shouldn't be?

Read all about it

The company I currently fly for here in West Africa would buy one today if it was available now at the price and specs they announce.

Nothing currently on the market comes even close - single pilot, STOL-ish, rough strips, cargo door for emergency spares delivery or occasional stretcher, smart enough for occasional exec transport, range for occasional single-stop trips to Europe and ME.
