CAE VS Flight Safety Int

Your experiences in terms of overall delivery of training and prefered choice
of venue if you have happened to have visited both would be gratefully received.

One thing is for sure, ANY CAE location is better than FlightSafety in Paris.... Can't give advice on other FlightSafety locations though as I have not tried them....

Well, I have done both...and really don't like CAE in Burgess hill,Uk....would rather go to Paris for Falcon Training ( plus in the Uk they don't have this Falcon spirit to my taste), Tetorboro FSI is a mess, Morristown CAE is just great ( lots of Falcon Experienced instructors pilots there..).DXB i heard is good..once again I am just talking about the Falcons...

Have used FSI, CAE and Bombardier. My conclusion is that, facilities aside, one`s experience is almost entirely dependent on the draw of instructors.

I rank FSI highest for consistency, but it`s very frustrating- I had my worst experience with FSI as an account holder.

I've used various FSI training centers for 20+ years but recently swithced to CAE. The quality of training is about the same in my opinion but varies with instructors and programs as has been said. FSI has an advantage with the iPad use in place of heavy books/course material. CAE DFW says they are making the move to iPad soon.

Tucson FSI was always nice staying at the University of AZ Marriott Hot co-eds everywhere. But was forced to make the move to FSI Wilmington, DE when we began to operate the GLEX. Never could find a hotel or restaurant setup I liked in or around ILG. The area does not offer much unless you like fast food and chain restaurants.

CAE DFW has an on-site cafeteria. Not great but certainly more relaxing than racing out for fast food at the lunch hour.

My vote is CAE at DFW but I only know the GLEX program there. It's a good one if that's what you're after. DFW area has more to offer.....Bonedaddy's

I can only speak for the Hawker training comparing between CAE Dubai and FSI Farnborough.

Location: Dubai much better, they pick you up from the hotel and airport, easy, you don't need a rental car. Needless to say that Dubai offers a lot of things to do during your free time. FAB: always Taxi needed, nothing around. really boring. No Marriott which is usually a no-go-item.

Training: CAE Dubai okay, straight forward, qualified instructors, all questions answered, but: manuals only printed. And, in my case, 900XP not available. FSI: training better than CAE, usually you will receive that Pro-card which is a great benefit incl. the insurances. All training material online available weeks in advance before your training and if you ask questions about something, they always take care of it and send additional training material. (this question never came up with CAE because the don't send anything in advance!) In earlier years we always received a really good quality polo-shirt from CAE (still wearing them today), as far as I know now it is a coffee mug. From FSI you receive nothing- but the pro-card is worth much more of course.

During my training with FSI for Lear Jets and Citations at Tucson/Wichita/Orlando I was always happy but never had the chance to compare with any other location.

Got to re-iterate GF's question - what type/s are you looking at?

The Gulfstream 450/550 program at Long Beach and Savannah with FSI are spot on - as good as I would expect for the money paid. The Hong Kong training centre has the same standards, but the prices remain at a premium which makes it a less attractive option.

My personal experience at CAE in Dubai for a 450/550 recurrent was nothing short of a mess. Equipment, staff and curriculum all failed at one time or another in a very short space of time. No study notes, no updated QRH, no AFM/AOM review, and no cross-pollination with other operators. The only solid benefit was an included business class airfare there and back. Colleagues who have been through the program at CAE Dubai have had similar experiences. CAE Dubai training was much cheaper than FSI - but at the end of the day, you get what you pay for!

Interestingly, work colleagues who have conducted training on the Global with CAE in Dubai have had positive comments. So I go back to the original question... on what type are you training?

I agree with Envoy regarding FSI at LGB and SAV, it just doesn't get any better. I also agree with Globalstream, the key ingredient for any learning is the quality of the instructor. Sitting at Starbucks alongside a great instructor with a napkin and sharpie is much better than being in the latest classroom with a guy who wants to talk about his fishing boat.

One more consideration if you are considering Gulfstream training is that FSI is the training partner with the factory. They develop standards and procedures together, whilst CAE looks on. CAE seems to never update materials and techniques, and never even bothers to correct spelling mistakes...

Bonedaddy's in DFW and the JW in Dubai, business class tickets, and price are the best reasons to choose CAE.

Totaly depends on the type you are training on and your luck of the draw for for your instructor. Have had good and bad out of both. Would never elect to return to LBG again thats for sure. I have done Dallas, Le Bourget, Teterboro, Wilmington and Wichita, these days I only use CAE, best price and good training. (Falcon)

I totally agree with NuName. This is my 38th year in corporate aviation and have had good and bad at both facilities. My co-captain and I attended CAE in Dallas early this year on a CE560XL recurrent. Sim instruction was 'okay' ground school was awful. Three days of bull ****ting.......I asked a specific question of the instructor and didn't get a satisfactory answer.

So next February we will be attending FlightSafety at KMCO for our recurrent training.
