Aerobilitys Global Flight Simulator Challenge

Aerobility is a UK registered charity founded in 1993 offering disabled people, without exception, the opportunity to fly an aeroplane.

We are challenging over 100 people to help Aerobility achieve a New Guinness World Record for the longest duration Global simulator flight in our sim at Blackbushe.
We also hope to raise £100,000, ALL of the money raised will fund Aerobility's flying activities with disabled people including the running costs of our own flying simulator over the next 5 years.

Our pilots so far include:
Professional pilots, our supporters and volunteers.

Buzz Aldrin, Apollo Astronaut,
Chief of the Air Staff, Sir Stephen Dalton, RAF
Willie Walsh CEO International Airlines Group
Gerald Howarth, MP
Yves Rossy, Breitling Jet Man
David Hempleman-Adams, Adventure and Explorer
Richard Deakin, Chief Executive, NATS
Andrew Haines, Chief Executive, CAA
Bertrand Piccard, Scientist and Adventurer, Breitling Orbiter record holder
Brian Jones, record-breaking Breitling Orbiter round the world pilot

Start date: 5th October 2012 and finish around 10 days later.
Simulator location: Blackbushe Airport, Camberley, GU17 9LQ

Route:
• 22,000 nautical miles
• 100 pilots
• 10 days
• 200 hours of flying
• West to East - London, Europe, Middle East, Far East and Asia, North America, Greenland, North Atlantic and back to London - taking in famous cities and landmarks along the way.

How to get involved:
For just £500 per flight you can take part in this unique opportunity to participate in this record attempt and help raise money for this fantastic cause. You might also want to ask your company to sponsor you, in return your company will have their logo displayed on the official website + on Aerobilitys sponsorship wall at Blackbushe + they will also be mentioned during Aerobilitys Aviators Ball in November this year.

Nathan joins Buzz Aldrin in Aerobilitys Guinness World Record Attempt at Blackbushe

Aerobility are proud to announce that Britain’s most disabled pilot Nathan Doidge will now be joining Buzz Aldrin and several other famous names in Aerobilitys Guinness World Record attempt at Blackbushe.

Global Flight Simulator Challenge 2012

Aerobility provides 'experience of a lifetime' trial flying lessons for as many terminally ill and disabled people as possible every year, also subsidised flying days for other disability charities such as Help for Heroes, Battle Back' and at-cost instruction and qualification flight training to members.
Aerobility have taught several disabled Afghanistan veterans to fly to PPL standard.

Hi cldvr

Full STC in 13 days - perhaps a record? (Wasn't planned to be like that - late changes in approach to the task from CAA and EASA).
Flight testing (3 trips) with CAA (Paul Mulcahy) on board along with our test pilot, Dan Griffiths and Tim Orchard from Tecnam UK. Ended up with a Vne restriction (very conservatively set) of 130kts and a deployment speed of about 80kts to get best effect of the streaming pyros. Dedicated battery for the pyros and LEDs so no impact on aircraft systems. Stress analysis of wingtip sleeves and pyro mounts. Our design team at Fairoaks did a great job to achieve this with considerable hassle so I was delighted when I saw it work on time at the stadium - not quite what happened on all of the previous test flights. Excellent support from Tim Dews at Airborne Composites who made the wingtip sleeves, Paul Sawney (welder) from Wycombe who created the pyro mounts, Gama Engineering staff for certification and installation, and not forgetting the Aerobility team to pull it all together.

Fantastic display!!! Had the pleasure of chatting to the pilot a while ago, fantastic chap.

I'm glad to see G-DISA is nice and clean in the video, it took a lot of effort to get it looking good a few months ago

Just two days to go until the end of Aerobilitys' celebrity auction for the Co-Pilots seat with each of them in the Global Flight Simulator Challenge. You’ll see our celebrities on our blog page and the links to their EBay auctions.
Global Flight Simulator Challenge 2012

All funds raised will go to buying and running the Simulator for two years which is currently on loan. The sim is invaluable to Aeroblitys students when the weather is too bad for lessons, for free experience rather than the cost of flying, for giving seriously ill people the experience of flying when they aren't able to get airborne and often Aerobility have visits by children with Autism and Aspergers who are terribly nervous of flying, the sim is a great means of introducing them to flying for the first time. One of our latest young visitors after having a flight in the sim and then going up in one of our aircraft described his experience as 'Awesome'!! Hopefully that will be a wonderful memory he will carry with him for life.
