Rome and the Soccer

We have just been turned down for slots at CIA 27/28 May. I think it is probably a blessing in disguise if the stories of Moscow and Berlin can be believed. Is anybody actually going and what about the nearest suitable alternative? we cannot find any.

Mainland Italy always a problem. Few times when denied parking in CIA had to go to Sardinia!

Alternate options

Hi guys,

I'm Italian so first of all I understand your problems, but let me just tell you I was in Berlin and it was a very bad mess...

Anyway my suggestions for an alternate are: ( from the best to the worse)

1) Naples the closest but with slot problems every day, so I suppose already full. But try anyway Skyservices FBO

2) Grosseto military airfield 40' from rome, to go there you have to ask to Aloa FBO

3) Pescara on the other coast, but not too far away. 1.5 driving

4) Pisa close enough, but with a small ga ramp. ( Florence not mentioned because it's a very mess airport)

5) Bologna via Aloa FBO

If you need more help PM me.

I hoped to be usefull for you

Normal chaos. I'm going into Urbe instead. One email requesting PPR and overnight parking quickly acknowledged. It's all starting very early, I'm trying for slots monday for a non football trip and they are struggling to fit me in!

pilot415.

I know what you mean. The service from ATC at some Italian airports is excellent. Immediate start, clearances given straight away, aircraft cleared for take-off ahead of others..........

.........providing you're flying an 'I' registered aircraft of course. The rest of us just get buggered about.

I must say I was impressed with Rome ATC 27/28 May. No holding, no slots, no reroutes, no second guessing where we were going next.

Usual chaos on the ground of course, refuelling, finding pax etc....

In the end we dropped pax off in Pescara and then re-positioned to Bari for overnight parking.

Rme 27/28 May

We did get slots in the end and the crew said Rome ATC were brilliant, together with a good handling agent it worked out well with only minimal (30 minutes) delay. Not like Moscow or Berlin events. Thanks Rome
