Try Kings Arms Hotel in Westrum. About 10 minute drive from the airfield, nice and quaint and the village has about 3 restaurants per head of the population.

Thumbs up for Kings Arms, with all due respect to the NJE guys its not a Netjets kind of hotel but very comfortable, clean, loads of restaurants and when I was there sub three figures room rate with a hearty breakfast.

Problem being addressed

I understood that the problem was being addressed.

I received a circular from the airport management asking how they should specify the standards that pilots requre from a quality hotel ON the airport.

I suggest that fellow aviators highlight their needs on this forum, and a member of staff who I know reads PP will add these comments to the spec.

regards glf

ps I attempted to address the problem over 20 years ago.

Jet Aviation recommended Croyden Park Hotel but after staying there I would rather book into Stalag 13 next time, if you look at tripadvisor.com and check the surrounding area and reviews there are all sorts of different types of accommodation. Also stayed at Kings Arms and liked it as well.

I would also recommend the King's Arms in Westerham but it was absolutely dead when I stayed there. The room had the squeakiest floorboards I've ever known, so much so that I felt guilty about walking on them, out of concern for the poor person in the room below. There's not much else happening in Westerham.

The Croydon Park is reasonable but lacks character. If you do stay, try the dinner buffet - if you fully partake of the starter you'll find it difficult to find room for the main course.

I've also used the Jury's Inn in Croydon town centre - OK if you don't mind a highly average breakfast on a tray.

The Selsdon Park hotel is about the best hotel in the area (and that ain't saying much). It's a 10 min cab ride from Biggin.

Speaking as a Biggin local, Kings arms is a good Choice as well as the Selsdon Park.

Out of personal preference, that's the one hotel I actually avoid if I have a choice. Pokey little rooms and very little atmosphere. The bar reminds me of a 1960s British Rail station canteen.

I'm signed up for two nights in the Croydon Park, free stab vest on arrival, where's your sense of adventure?

I found the Kings Arms in Westerham pretty dreadfull, lights in the room didn't work and very expensive, shopped around and got a very good deal here,

True. RizonJet (who are rather close to the airport management and are building the big hangar next to Air Partner/Goldair) are rumored to be looking at building a hotel similar to TAGs "The Aviator" at FAB. Biggin's will be called "The Rizon Shine".

Best I have heard in a long time.

Lets hope it is a wake up call for the airport.

The airport has been fighting the local planning authority for years. A fact of life in the UK, if you want to build anything you have to have the 'permission' of the local council. The fact that the leading voice in local planning was anti airport did not help.

The latest hotel application stands a good chance of being approved. Then it is only a matter of time to get it built.

KyleRb......Why 'Biggin Hole' ?? Make yourself known on your arrival so we can discuss. Customer feedback is always welcome.

I remember the breakfast at Kings because it was the first time I had had fried bread, the only other time my heart cringed like that was when I was in Dallas and had chicken fried steak.
