Looking for circuit (base) training in G-V, G450 or G550.

Hi everybody.

Do you guys know anybody who can give me Circuit (base) training (6 landings) in GV, G350, G450 or G550?

This is my 4th type on my FAA licence, but the first one on my JAA one.

Is it possible to do it in the N reg airplane?

Many thanks in advance!!

Hi,

Had the same problem after my F900 type...

NO, you can't do it in a N-Reg aircraft, mostly because the JAA-TRI or TRE that you require cannot perform his training role in an N-reg, even if he is also a FAA instructor.

The obstacle in these things is most often the airplane owner, who does not fancy having his toy used as a training tool for "outside" pilots. Try contacting G5 Executive in Zurich, they can dispose of their planes as they see fit, and with the recent downturn in charter, might be happy to provide an airplane.

If you can't find a TRI/TRE, then send me a PM, I have a few names on file.

As the previous poster said, neither the plane nor the instructor will be cheap... Plane and instructor will actually run you around 10'000 Euros, IF you can do the landings where the aircraft is based..

CAA have been known to give a waiver to non-JAA rated TRE to do the training on foreign registered aircraft... for a small fee.
It was based on experience level of TRE etc.
You can ask.

Cheers

If you're not in a hurry, and flying an N-reg one on your FAA licence, then just send your log book in after you've done the requisite number of landings on type. The only reason for needing a TRI to do the landings when it's JAA reg is because you haven't got a valid type rating on it yet. Chicken and egg etc.

Even if you have flown the plane on the N reg you will need a valid JAA LPC within the last six months to get it on your JAA licence and also a certificate of a TRTO course completion for the JAA. You used to be able to get a JAA rating from an FAA rating without Course Completion if you had 500 hours on type. Either way you need an LPC within last six months

Thanks guys.

Does it mean that I have 6 month to complete those 6 landings before my JAA type rating course will expire? I thought it was 1 month only.

Hi GV
It used to be a six months envelope to complete the flight training from completion of the ground school, but in your case I am not sure. I have not heard the one month limit anywhere and am trying to find the answer !

I was under the impression that it was 6 months but then I checked AMC FCL 1.261 (C) and found this.

14. The Head of Training, or a nominated representative, is required to certify that all training has
been carried out before an applicant undertakes a skill test for the type rating to be included in the pilot’s
licence. It is not uncommon for an approved TRTO to be unable to provide, or have direct supervision over
any training that is required to be carried out on an aeroplane conducted by a third party such as the
operator. In such cases, and with the agreement of the approving Authority, a TRTO Course Completion
Certificate may be issued confirming completion of ground and STD flight training. Confirmation of the
completion of aeroplane training should then be provided by the organisation undertaking this training, as a
requirement for issue of the type rating. The period of time between any two phases of training should not
exceed 60 days otherwise refresher training at the discretion of the Authority will be required.
So 60 days then?

Still looking for base training.

Would you be available for work too? Add out for G450 captains in Middle East...Maybe they would be interested/interesting?

FAA Type Rating

Kind of related so I thought I would jump on the thread...

I may have a job lined up outside of the US but on an N registered GV.

I dont have an FAA ticket, though do have three ICAO ATPLs and about 5,000hrs jet.

Can anyone offer suggestions on where to look for a rating? I did a search here and found a few older posts.

Any info appreciated.

Thanks.

The ME Job seeks many hours on type

So unless you have over 500 on G450 then forget them.

This is not 500 on G5 or 500 on G550, but 500 on G450.

Sorry to be negative.

'Can vouch for that. 500 hours minimum, (pref 1500 on G450!) Nothing else will do! And the deal is bad too! I hear no per diems whilst at base and no salary at all during your time off! What are these guys on?
