This Spencer is NOT and never has been an Airline pilot. What a scam, the attachment he sent has gone to the Dept' of Trading, Isn't the industry screwed up enough without the likes of Am' and RSpencer

Cldrvr

You forgot to mention........... As long as we mention this company Ambeo and the founder Frank Noppel of Ambeo Cranfield here, google will make sure that any investor or potential employee of Ambeo and Frank Noppel will find our little thread here.

Did I mention this is in reference to a Frank Noppel of Ambeo based in Cranfield?

Article about Frank Noppel of Ambeo at Cranfield:

G-S,

You are right though, VLJ002 has dropped out of sight, give it an hour or two and a new probationary PPRuNe'r will magically appear and defend Frank Noppel of Ambeo at Cranfield.

There are days I don't enjoy long legs across empty Oceans and dark continents, however I do not envy the fresh pilot looking for his first job or all the good guys and girls that have lost their jobs at the bottom of the market having to deal with unscrupulous characters and companies.

Ambeo Recruitment e-mail

cldrvr, loved your google reply, excellent!

Thought I would post a few details from the e-mail I received from Ambeo regarding the costs:

Financial structure (costs):
Initial Selection - £250.00
Occupational Personality Questionnaire Evaluation - £250.00***
Formal interview - £100.00
Pre-Type Rating training - £2,600.00
All costs are inclusive of UK VAT.

Salaries:
It is expected that including flight pay Captains will start at £50 000 per annum rising to £60,000
after 6 months service. First Officers will start at circa £25 000 per annum rising to £30,000 after 6
months.
Training bonds will be repaid from the basic salaries, gross of tax, and will reduce at 50% in the

1
st year; 30% in the 2nd year & 20% in the 3rd year.

Interesting that the training bonds are to be repaid from salaries! I have low hours and a 737 TR but I don't think I'll be going for an offer like this, better off looking at flying 73's in Nigeria! Slightly better chance of being paid a salary!

Also got the ridiculously transparent and laughable letter about interviews / selection from "Captain Spencer"

£3.2K to pay for a bog standard recruitment process for a company that has a 50% chance (statistically if it ticks the boxes of your average new start up) of lasting six months! You would have to be certified to work for such a bandit-esque operation

Did you see the last business venture they tried their hand at? Check it out here

3rd Annual Nigerian EMail Conference

What an insult to the remnants of decent aviation!

*sigh*

As someone a couple of months into the jobhunt, the flightglobal ad seemed really promising. Was shocked when I got the email back - over £3k just to get to the point of deciding if they'll take you. £250 for an ONLINE questionnaire. It may not have been so bad if I hadn't already done an MCC.

I thought perhaps I was being a bit too careful by having second thoughts, but it's clear I'm not alone at all in thinking that this is simply bang out of order. Won't be taking my application any further.

Thanks all... good to see that there are lots of others who still believe it's wrong to have to pay to work

what i dont understand is why we have to pay 100 pounds for a "formal interview" with the chief pilot and a senior HR professional..... unless they dont work for the company themselves which brings me to the point why dont they have these important posts filled already.

the email i have is from robert spencer who is the director of CRM, the company the recruitment is outsourced to, AND the chief pilot for ambeo... 2 paychecks for one job?

He's using/exploiting applications for the ambeo jobs to get some dosh thru his failing crm hash at Cranfield. STAY AWAY
No experienced chaps with multi crew or Jet TR are gona bother.
I would imagine he has sourced all the crew already from his 'buddy' list...for this,as yet imaginary outfit.

If you now type "Ambeo" into Google, this thread now appears directly below their own home-page.

Im a 211 fATPL with no commercial experience and no job offers (i know join the pool) and I looked at the email in disbelief.

The fact that they want to charge for each part of the selection process and then put you through their MCC course, at your expense only to tell you you are unsuccessful.....

Needless to say I deleted the email

Does anyone know if they have any aircraft ordered? it would seem mind-blowingly bizarre if they were charging to recruit based someones discertation?

It's like Unique Air DejaVu.

I have to pay for the selection the following amount:
Financial structure (costs):
Initial Selection - £250.00
Occupational Personality Questionnaire Evaluation - £250.00***
Formal interview - £100.00
Pre-Type Rating training - £2,600.00
All costs are inclusive of UK VAT
add to the above costs £1000 for a brain scan for anyone who takes this any further.. IMHO Guess they need to buy planes somehow...
