Scratch lpokijuhyt off the interview list.
Oh, I may start crying.

Suitecaseman, you shouldn't take these things so personally. Rejecting all collaborators each time they disagree with you is called dictatorship. Unless you are part of Jetbird's top management I don't see why you do bother so much on some comments.

Seriously suitecaseman, are you really unable to interact with people without insulting them each time they disagree with you? This must be a real handicap for you as in this industry communication skills are essential to both safety and quality of service provided.

Honestly, you're not really promoting Jetbird in acting that way. Openly insulting me (while you could choose to send me a PM) shows how much you care about your image.

Update

So did everyone else get the email today like I did regarding the Face-to-face interviews being stopped for a few months?

Yep. They appear to be staying reasonably positive about it so I'll do likewise, even though they're not even close to launching.

Positive News?

Before you all jump down my throats about my comments below, let me state my position - I would be front of the queue to wish JB good luck, I think they are great people and wouldn't even mind my old job back!

But.

I'm sorry I just don't see how waiting a "few" months is perceived as positive. To me, 'few' means more than 2 which means there would be no face-to-face interviews until at least April. In April 2009 I had an interview with JB and was one of 38 pilots recruited with initial start dates of July-December. Which were then delayed min 6 weeks for some, and simply cancelled for others, plus of course we were all laid off after completing TRs anyway. So, only positive spin I can put on your latest news is that they are about to take their recently made redundant pilots back and will then need more pilots late summer. But I doubt it somehow.

yep, today..

Dear Pilots,

Apologies for the delay in phone screening which you have so patiently endured. We are writing to inform you that due to unfortunate delays in our launch schedule we are no longer recruiting at present. At this point in time we have no clear plan for when further recruitment activities will recommence but please do understand that once this happens we will be in contact with you to ensure that you are still interested and available and to give an approximate timeframe for screening calls.

We would like to take this opportunity to wish you and yours a very happy new year and all the best for 2010.

Thanks and kind regards,

Jetbird Pilot Recruitment Team

Rob's Dad - I for one have no intention of jumping down your throat. From what you've written it appears that you're about to get your job back - correct?

No, far from it I think looking at the email you guys received today! I was just trying not to be too harsh on people's dreams while expressing a view that there will not be any recruitment in the near future.

Simply replace the words "chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me" with "job at Jetbird." (classic scene from Dumb and Dumber)

Lloyd: What do you think the chances are of a guy like you and a girl like me... ending up together?
Mary: Well, Lloyd, that's difficult to say. I mean, we don't really...
Lloyd: Hit me with it! Just give it to me straight! I came a long way just to see you, Mary. The least you can do is level with me. What are my chances?
Mary: Not good.
Lloyd: You mean, not good like one out of a hundred?
Mary: I'd say more like one out of a million.
[pause]
Lloyd: So you're telling me there's a chance... *YEAH!*

Having done the phone interview quite some time ago I didn't get the same email Yeah did. The one I received was a little more positive, however I take the above comments on board and appreciate that JB isn't happening anytime soon.

I did receive the same email as Yeah did. Though the news aren't positive for sure, there's one thing that I truly appreciate: their keeping us updated.
And that's a nice change of pace from all those who did not even take a second to answer an email (or set up an automatic reply).

Jetbird getting aircraft???

Just to remind you! Being very close to sources I can tell you again that Embraer has cancelled the purchase agreement as well as the maintenance service agreement. Aircraft ready for delivery are currently remarketed. Restarting the purchase agreement negotiations, for sure, will take time and surely different guarentees to safeguard the manufacturer from future exposure of bankruptcy.

I heard there was a sighting of this plane near Tajikistan.

I love the fact that this thread has turned into a massive "Wheres Waldo."

Jetbird founder spreads wings in new venture

By John Mulligan and Joe Brennan

Friday January 15 2010

Financier Domhnal Slattery, who is trying to renegotiate an aircraft-purchase agreement for his troubled Jetbird air-taxi venture, is looking to set up a major new aviation venture
It emerged last night that Mr Slattery has set up a commercial aircraft leasing company known as Avolon, with the support of a $250m (€172m) investment from US private equity firm Oak Hill Capital Partners.
Mr Slattery has retained UBS, the Swiss investment bank, to raise $790m (€545m) in debt funding to get the company off the ground. The bank mentions that the Avolon team is "not burdened by legacy issues".
The business strategy circulated by UBS highlights Mr Slattery's background in aircraft leasing, which includes a stint at the late Tony Ryan's Guinness Peat Aviation, and the sale of Mr Slattery's International Aviation Management vehicle to Royal Bank of Scotland in 2001 for around €45m.
He went on to form Claret Capital, in which Senator Feargal Quinn's family have a stake.
The UBS presentation makes no reference, however, to Jetbird, the private aircraft leasing venture Mr Slattery established in 2006 to great fanfare.
Jetbird was billed as a lower-cost alternative to other air-taxi services such as Netjets, the private-jet service owned by Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway group.
Last November, Jetbird announced that it was placing all of its almost 40 staff on protective notice as it continued to seek about €6m in additional funding that would enable it to begin taking delivery of aircraft from Brazilian manufacturer Embraer.
Avolon is looking to buy 120 aircraft. It has 15 executives, who have strong relationships with 150 airlines, said UBS.
Mr Slattery couldn't be contacted for comment last night.
