BBC now reporting it was a Challenger 600 which crashed shortly after take off. Also reporting 3 crew all survived-yet to be confirmed though.
Lets hope so for all concerned.
Heavy snow reported over the last 12 hours in the area. Not the time to make any judgments but thoughts naturally turn to the Birmingham Challenger crash of a year or so ago.

As of 2:30pm, BBC News Online have nothing yet apart from the "latest" headline ticker across the top of the page. It says it's an A310 but has nothing more than "more soon".

Sky news have just appologised for the confusion and said that the a/c was not a A310 but a much smaller jet.

Acass Canada CL850 in Moscow crash

Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, the Challenger 850 that crashed on take-off from UUWW this morning was an Acass support contract.

It is sad to say it was only a matter of time until an incident such as this.

Just to add, without benefit of any knowledge other than the posts here, that "Challenger 850" is Bombardier's marketing name for the business/corproate configured version of the CRJ 50 seat regional jet (previously marketed as the 'SE' version of the CRJ, at least for a while)

Never heard of them before, and I'm from Canada! Care to fill us in as to why it was inevitable?

There is nothing "inevitable" about any crash. Whether your remark was aimed at ACASS or the 850 it was unfair to both.

Took me a while 2 figure out what was where and what wasn't there.
.
Reminds me of other icing TOs such as in Britian a few years ago.
