Mustang & Phenom100 or better say Mustang vs. Phenom100
What about these two "future" aircrafts? Which one is your favorite? Why? Any preliminary calculations regarding costs?
Thanks in advance

Phenom 100 is out to be best in class, Embraer having decided at last to enter the Bizjet market is very concious that Cessna has been there for along time and has enormous experience behind it. Embraer having concentrated on the airline market now hopes to bring those strengths to bear ie high cycle, reliability, redundency, to bear. They are a very impressive organization with huge facilities, 3rd largest aircraft manufacturer in the world. The Phenom 100 and follow up 300 are well on the way and coming on nicely. Have flown the CJ C1,II, III Excel X so have some experience with Cessna and have been down to the Embraer factory in Brazil this year. They have put a major effort into the 100. My guess is that the 100 is going to be a very close contender and may well give the Mustang a run for its money.

the best "vlj" so far (Embraer calls it "entry level jet" not vlj) is the Embraer Phenom 100, pretty much the same range, same ceiling but a max cruise speed of 390 kt tas, better avionics(prodigy flight deck), better looking, bigger cabin, better interiors, a stair, which gives the plane ramp presence, huge baggage compartment, even a toilet, 600 cycles before maintanance.
The Phenom100 is another category.

It all depend on what is expected from these two machines. As already discussed in other topics, their performances are rapidly altered with weight/temperatures variations.
Regularly operating these two airplanes with temperatures over 25C is an economical non-sense just like a husky dogs in a camel race.
Having said that, in the appropriate environment they both offer excellent performances for money and will most probably be reliable machines. From a commercial point of view, their seat capacity/payload and comfort for money are not the best...

Lets compare Apples to Apples though. Embraer always wants to compare the 100 with the Mustang. They should really compare the 100 to the CJ1+. The Citations (except the 510, I believe) are also designed to CFR Part 25 Transport category and performance (Airline standards), but certified Part 23.

The Embraer 505 is in the Part 23 Commuter category normally reserved for turboprops. They have an exemption with the details of how they got approval shown here....
